3k miles on mine and the wheels have some oxidation on them. (Is that what it is?-a whitish substance)
Gonna have a good go at it when I get the chance and maybe see about sealing them with something. If I can expect it to happen regularly, I think I'd get them done (sealed, powder-coated) professionally. It's not something one expects on a 2007 bike.
