Greybeard,

How are things going down in Clovis? My GF in Albuquerque says they have been getting rain. Is that true for you?

We have been getting rain about once a week. There is finally some green showing in the horse pasture, but not enough that I can stop buying hay.

This area has been getting dryer since the clovis people lived in Blackwater Draw some 10,000 years ago. The Portales springs dried up well over 100 years ago, (Los Portales = the porches, which the caves that the springs ran out of looked like) putting a serious gap in the water sources on the cattle trail that used to run through this area. Billy the Kid and a number of other outlaws and renegade indians used to hide out in the caves at times. It is thought that the drier conditions may have been why the Clovis people left.

Speaking of irresponsible harvesting of resources, the warships the Brits used to spread the empire each took some 70 acres of oak trees to build. The huge oak groves so venerated by the Druids were all cut down for this.

At any rate, global warming and cooling has been going on just the same fore millions of years with no people around to help it along.
