So what if the poeple you speak of had no impending global catastrophy to study? Nothing to research means no funding. No papers to publish, no books to write.

Is the planet warming? Yep..Is mankind to blame? There are those in the scientific community that say no.But you dont hear much from them. They tend to get "shouted down" by those who do the reasearch, publish the papers and write the books.
The media is not likely to spend money on a program that
presnts an oposing view. Who would watch it? The public is much more interested in listening to prophets of doom.And how the evil humans are reponsible. Besides all tose yuppies need somthing to feel guilty about dont they?
And where would the activists be without a cause to jump on.

Me..I'm far more worried about continental drift. Did you know that the pacific plate is moving north? And there is nothing we can do to stop it? Someday LA will be a suburb of SF...can you imagine waht the Earth will be like when that happens? We are talking Sodom meets Gahmorra here.
My god I'm glad I wont live to see that day. Bet its all those cars on the la freeway causing it.
