In my opinion, the second-ugliest feature of the TBA, after the rear peg holders, are the rear turn signals. Here's my solution.

The license plate frame incorporates a row of EXTREMELY bright red led's. They are always on, functioning as additional running lights.
When you touch either brake, the center portion pulsates rapidly for a few seconds, then stay brightly lit.
The left and right segments are turn signals, flashing sequentially, very bright.
I'm leaving the giant fron signals as is, for fear of the left-turn lulus out there, but this seems to be a very elegant solution for the rear.
Installation note: It was a fairly complicated installation, requiring spldering. Not plug-and-play. It also required installation of a load equalizer, without which the signals would have flashed very rapidly, as if one were out.

Here's the manufaturer URL: http://www.kisantech.com/index.php?cat_id=1

And how it looks on the bike. Note that I installed it so the led's were on top.

So good to hear that you soldered the wires. That is the correct way to do it.It takes a little more time, but ya only gatta do it once. Did you also use shrink tubing to complete the work? Al

I must confess that I had my mechanic, Gerry at South Bay Triumph in Lomita, California, do the work. As I used to say when I was a 747 pilot, "I just fly 'em — I let the pros fix 'em." And when it comes to Triumph modifications, Gerry's a consummate pro.

Philip,

How's that Argentine mechanical meastro doin', anyway?

Yep! He's a good wrencher.

And I like the look. CLEAN! Though, I hope some by-the-book cop doesn't take exception to this handiwork.

Cheers,
Dwight
(actually...if one would, usually as soon as they see it's a Triumph, they usually just wave and give ya the ol' thumbs-up)

(cops iz people too)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

He's doing well, Dwight. I tried a couple of other dealerships first, including Simi Valley (close to home but dismal as far as Triumphs are concerned) and SoCal Triumph (good, but getting too busy, what with their Victory franchise starting up), but Gerry's a keeper. He's self-taught, I understand, and a real pro -- very careful that everything is "just so."

Can't imagine why any Police officer would object to the signals; they're THERE, and REALLY bright and obtrusive. Ya never know, though. They could just use it as an excuse to get a closer look at the bike!

That's pretty cool! Of course, nothing like that ever fits the over-size Maryland MC plates...

Nice. We have one of the frames that we were going to play around with but you did it for us! :-) Thanks!

Some PA cops would.... turn signals are required to extend a minimum of 4 inches out from the bike....

That's the drawback to living in an area where every little town has it's own Barney Fife on patrol....

More flags More fun!

Hi Brent,

A clean mounting on the TBA is a bit of a challenge. If you mount it with the led's on the bottom, the effect is lost because of the taillight being right there. To mount it as seen in the picture, you have to drill a hole in the top of the taillight mount, install a grommet, and run the wire in through there. You also need to neatly plug the holes in the sides where the original turn signals were. I don't think this lends itself too readily to the TBA, really. Let me know if you want detailed pics.

Philip
