I ended up taking a piece of aluminum 4.25" X 10". A metal guy rounded the top and polished it. We drilled holes to match the original sissy bar plate (after removing the original pad). It bolted on tight, using 4 holes through the sissy bar plate and aluminum attached piece. I also ordered a "custom" sized pad from Corbin to mount on the new arrangement. I got the idea from an old board ba.com guy from the Wash DC area 5 years ago. Not for everyone, but I'm happy
