If you want a inexpensive tent it's tough to beat Coleman's. I've had one for years and never a problem.
Coleman
Colemans over here ARE expensive. Also, we bought some at Guides and they leaked....on their first use.
I have cheap tents and they have never leaked for me. I use them pretty regularly as a Guide Leader and with the bikes, and have had no problems. I also take the view that if a cheap tent falls of the back of the bike it doesn't matter. If a cheap tent leaks after 6 months of use (in my case - for most others that's after 2 years) then it's been well used. I am lucky cos I know of tent outlet shops (yeah really) down here, and other places that I get discount of the expensive stuff with my Guide Card. Or know of people doing DofE that get discount where I don't and give them the cash... We splashed out with the Guides new tents, but we got a nice grant to pay for them and they came with a 3 year guarantee.
If you are only gonna camp at Dent this year, and possibly one other weekend then go really cheap. If you are considering doing more go mid range. I really don't recommend going really expensive. The more you spend on a tent the less beer money...
