HI, I am replacing my idiot lghts with LED's and have come across a problem! It would appear that the indicator warning light is supplied with 12 volts on both wires (according to the wiring diagram in the Haynes manual) Which one do I connect to the + positive side of the LED and which one to the - negative side. Has anyone come across this or I am I missing something obvious and just being stupid? I await your wisdom, a confused Goliath.

No you're not being an idiot...

when you light the left indicator the current flows one way, and light going right the current goes the other way.

Are you making your own led replacements or getting shop bought??

I made mine, and there's a good site done by Sandmann that tells you exactly how. however he says you can't fit 2 led's in the tube. I have. All I did was make the same as the other idiot light replacements, carefully added 2 leds, in parallel and in reverse polarity to each other. Then wrapped the legs of each led in tape so they don't short themselves out.

I'd draw a circuit diagram but the wine won't let me.

Hope it helps.

I did a similar thing with two superbrightled #74 leds that I soldered onto a larger connector made out of a crimp-on connector (and mauled with a pair of pliers).

You can use this to your advantage. Most LED makers have a 2 color version that is actually 2 LED's wired backward to each other. This way, reversing the current changes the color. That way, you can tell which signal is on.

Hi, many thanks to GinaS for directing me to the solution. All lights now installed and working well. Okay, okay mabey I've been a bit on the quiet side but I'll make up for it shortly, got a few mods that you might like so I'll get busy and post you some stuff in the near future. Nothing fancy just some eloquent solutions to well known issues! Will be back in touch soon. ttfn, Goliath the Silent Scotsman

I know what it is, just not a manly thing to say over here and struck me as funny.
