Actually, in my opinion if you are pulled over, there is no need to tell the police officer anything unless he asks if you are carrying. I don't know for sure, but I believe they can see in their 'know it all computer' that you have a permit.
Otherwise on the gun topic, it's a right of freedom in the US that shouldn't be given up. The percentage of gun crime by lawful carriers is soo low it's rediculous; it's unlawful carriers that are the problem. (minus Virginia Tech moron that was legal)
I know in MA it's getting worse and worse all the time; I never used to carry but now I think about it more and more when I senseless acts of crime.
