Blimey it has to be a record......6 minutes after a new Brit member first posts and Ray's mentioned Dent....it's normally at least an hour.... Welcome Mike. There's a fair few Brits on here. And you must be the first to get rid of a Rocket for an America.

Welcome to the site, Mike. Some people here have retrofitted Speedmaster front disks on the America. I'm sure they'll chime in here pretty soon!

Welcome, you will get a PM with the secret handshake once you have been here for a while. In addition to asking Pat about oil you need to post any info you find on the 1500 or 1620 twin to come and don't forget to eat plenty of Jaffa cakes. Enjoy the America, they are almost as good as the more refined finished product that is the Speedmaster, you know there had to be a rough draft before the finished version.

Okay, so, when are they gonna get the bridge built so we that are colonials can ride over for Dent? Welcome to the forum. The factory stunt riders can do some amazing things on the Rocket. Most people I've met with rockets just like to burn the rear tires off of em or beat crotch rockets silly at the local drag strip. I can't imagine any real aggressive cornering on a 900 lb cruiser. I hope you really enjoy your new ride. And whats the real difference between the speedys and americas anymore besides the buckhorn bars? A 40 dollar drag bar from Newspeedmaster.com and some 40 dollar 6 inch risers from one of the cheap stores and you've got a speedamaster. Welcome to the madness.
Its more fun to be ridin'! I'm still ridin

I know your insurance rates ought to drop down to at least as low as 1/3 the cost of the R3.What cc are they 2300cc,or 2400cc somebody told me.I think 2300cc.Down from that to 865cc.Hay are the rates cheaper on the America than the Speedmaster because of the name:SPEEDMASTER? I would not dought it.I got an 05 Speedmaster.Diffently slower than the R3 unless going through some tight turns.

Hi Mike if you like the idea of twin discs, then go for the speedmaster or upgrade the wheel kit on the america to twin disc. The only problem with upgrading the wheel is that it will cost you roundabout a grand extra. I went with the 2007 wheels and bought the bits as and when, but this is a hard way to go about it. Gina bought a Thunderbird sport wheel(spoked) to keep the look of the traditional wheels and the upgrade kit. The upgrade kit is about £400.00.

Buy a Speedmaster and change out the bars, seat, other bits as required.
Welcome, Mike. Hope to see you at Dent.
Incidentally, if you fancy cutting out the hassle of selling a bike, selling your bits, looking for a bike, sorting out the money to buy a bike, buying a bike, etc, I'd be more than happy to do a straight swap for my 07 (black) Speedie!!!
Oh, no need for thanks, I'm that kinda person!!

A warm welcome many thanks to all. Gonna conclude my business of bike exchange and will keep you posted as to progress. Still dont know if anyone has ever wheelied a Bonami? The Roc is a doddle to lift point - and squirt and up she comes, I did have an America about 3 years ago for a month! I loved the look of the bike but it was in the shop more than my garage for electrical gremlins so I told the dealer to take it back, not fit for sale. I know the power it has (or lack of) but I'm fine with that. Cheers.

For sure, much easier and less expensive to do it that way. To put twin discs on you need the RH lower fork leg, Should use the SM master cyl.,caliper, break line, wheel, rotor, and the double banjo bolt for the left caliper and clips for the line to cross the fender. You also would have to drill the fender for those clips. Or run a double line right from the master cyl.

Twin disks on a America must have spokes..... But Thundersbird Sport wheels are like rocking horse poo. There's only being 2 on ebay UK in the past 12 months and I bought both of them!!!! But the best thing to do for the rest of the bits it get the kit. I asked about part price and the kit costs the same as the brake caliper and the fork leg.. it also means you get all the bolts, clips and other bits you really don't think you need but do. Ask me at Dent....

Hi Mike Welcome to the site. I have seen a couple of TBA's in the North East. Where abouts in the good ole North East do you hail from? I am from Wallsend and I think Paul from the North is lives around this area as well.
Best of luck getting your TBA, just hope the snow stays away and spring is on its way.
