What a wonderful, fantastic, impressive piece of work this series on HBO is.

I agree, it kept me glued to the set.

Hopefully HBO will release it on DVD so those of us who don't subscribe will get a chance. If it's as well written as the book it should be fantastic; it looks like they got the correct actors for the Adamses.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. Herm Albright (1876 - 1944)

I saw it.
I absolutely loved the book.
so far so good!!!!!!!!!
I'm an american history buff!!!!
edit: somthing about last night's installments bothers me. I thought that the soldiers and the capt where tried seprately. also, I am almost possitive that 2 of the soldiers where found guilty of manslaughter. In the show, they have them ALL tried together and all got off.

Preston was tried first and found not guilty. That made sense because had Preston given the order and been convicted the soldiers would not have been tried. Their defense would have been following orders. The soldiers were tried later and two were convicted. That is right, they have it wrong.

i really have no idea how histrically correct the movie was, but, it sure was entertaining. i hope they don't stray too far from the truth, dummies like myself will take it to the grave as gospel...

Although I haven't read the book yet I hear IT is very accurate. I've recorded the first two episodes but haven't watched them yet.
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

PBS ran a piece on John Adams a couple nights ago. I missed part of the context, so feel free to correct where needed. Apparantly Geo. Washington and Congress were debating some issue. President Washington asked Adams to write his position. In response, but lacking electoral orators Congress asked Adams to reply. Washington wisely then had Adams reply to the reply. At some point Adams fell in deeply love and married a beautiful gal 17 years his junior. On their honeymoon they inadvertently stumbled across a Triumph dealership and ended up the parents of twins It was a very cool story jh

Most of it is very correct historically.Even the author is very pleased with this production.

I understand why they didn't get into the absolute accuracy due to budget/hollywood factor but there ARE some things that are not 100%. Don't get me wrong. I'll still continue to watch and still be 'glued to the set'. One other thing that caught my attention was that when they assigned Washington to lead the continental army, in the movie, Adams says "your army awaits you in Cambridge". I could have sworn that he held up his army at prospect hill in Charlsetown (present day somerville). A foot note to that point is that when the movie shows the continental congress reading our decleration for the first time, you see a group of soldiers holding a familiar looking flag. It is a flag with the british stripes where our present day stars would be found and the rest of the flag has our red and white stripes. WELL, that is the same flag that the continental army FIRST flew after the battle of bunkerhill. Washington ordered the flag to be flown atop a ship's mast. Very cool hidden fact that I caught in episode 2. here's the flag:

Having read the book, I was skeptical. After two episodes, I am very happy with the work. I too think that it is excellent.
