Last night my life took a dramatic turn to the left. After years of being friends and then dating I asked Nancy to marry me last night. I think I got a yes but there was a lot of crying, but she is being very nice to me this morning so I'm pretty sure it was a yes.
Being a confirmed bachelor for this long I have to admit that I'm at a lose for what to do next but I'm starting to get the feeling that it is taken out of my hands at this point. Nancy, her mother and mine seem to have opinions flying already. A good friend of mine who's been married for years just gets this smirk on his face every time he looks at me. I wasn't nervous asking her but now that it's done I've got butterflies.
Oh and she's still letting me come to Georgia. Although when she suggested September for the wedding I did refrain from mentioning that it can't be the weekend of Nor'East. Looks like I'm trained before I knew it.

So you made a decision after thinking about her and how she would like it. Get used to it. All your future decisions will be influenced by how she likes it. Seriously, marriage to the right woman is heaven-on-earth. Marriage to the wrong one....well, you know. If she likes motorcycles you'll be happy. Congratulations.

You'll be okay once you give in and realize she already knows what's best for you. It took me a few years of bucking the trend but once I got used to the bit the past 30 or so have been pretty smooth.

No, not over but different and better in many ways. Never let anyone tell you it's give and take. Make it give and give and you will be at it many, many years from now.
Congratulations.

I don't know, man. Sherri and I were talking about marriage on the way home from Great Falls this morning (went up to have dinner with my mom last night). I've never been married. She's been married twice and SAYS she never wants to do it again, but sometimes that facade slips and I can tell she would like to, if for no other reason than the knee-jerk, pre-programmed, "That's what you're supposed to do." Maybe she's just saying she doesn't want to because I've asserted that I don't ever plan on getting married.
In any event, I hope it works out for you.

Congratulations Wojo!!! I hope you and Nancy will be very happy together, since you are hooked line and sinker. I agree, I hope Nancy likes motorcyles. To Friar John who took his girlfriend to have dinner with his mother last night AND I might add, talked about marriage on the way home: "Farewell and adieu to you, fair Spanish ladies. Farwell and adieu, you ladies of Spain. For we've received orders for to sail back to Boston. And so nevermore shall we see you again."

Well, if you're gonna have kids, or make her a citizen, or she needs health care off your plan--its all good, otherwise--i can't see satisfying the state with a piece of paper--love and trust over procedural law--good luck in any event

Thanks everyone for the best wishes and kind words. I'm not the type to say "I love you" out loud but do like to show it so that is what the marriage is about. My saying the words out loud to show her my commitment, not that she asked for it but that I want to.
I would bring her to Georgia and she was looking forward to it but it turns out that her mother is going on a trip to China at the same time so there is no one to take care of her son while we are away.
Yes she likes motorcycles, sometimes I think more than I do. One of the honeymoon ideas at this point is a motorcycle tour through the Alps. She brought it up because she knows I've been staring at the guide books for about four years now.

YES
I was at a friends wedding a long time ago. The Priest said an interesting thing during the ceremony. The Bride sees three things as she enters the church for a wedding.
1st, The Aisle 2nd, The Alter 3rd, You
Translated to, I'll Alter You!
George Castanza said it right...."shes killing independant George". Well in this case, RIP independant Wojo, hello Mrs Wojo's sidekick.
But dont worry about it. If shes a good woman then it will be worth it and you will have a great life.

Just remember one simple rule that all the married guys tell me. If she wants a dog and you don't want a dog, you'll compromise and guess what you'll get a dog.
Just somethin that makes a married mans life a lot easier (so I hear)
Single life is too fun for the time being. I've looked at rings don't get me wrong. Then I see the price tag and say you know how many mods I could do to my bike or how many guns I can buy with that kinda money.

John,
Congradulations!!!
To be brave is to love someone unconditionally, without expecting anything in return. To just give. That takes courage, because we don't want to fall on our faces or leave ourselves open to hurt.
