As you may know I have a Thunderbird Sport wheel to go on my 06 (any thougbts of keeping it spare went out the window about 5 minutes after typing it in here....).

You may also know I've been off work since November.

How are these facts related to the title?

I've just been to the dealer up here by my parents to enquire about the Brake upgrade kit, and how much things would be if I bought them separately. I explained how being off work this long means no over time and I'm not rolling in it at the mo, so wouldn't be able to order it and pay for it till maybe August.
We looked at the separate prices, and just the main 4 bits (master cylinder, disk, caliper and fork leg) are twice the price of the kit. Even if I went floating disk route and used the bargain caliper I bought of ebay yesterday (I paid less than the price of the pads for a completeminusthehanger caliper) it would still end up cheaper buying the kit and selling the rest on. Or putting it with the rest of the pieces I have under the sofa...

Anyway, I told him I'd come back when I was back at proper work (not the pretend work I'm gonna do for the next couple of weeks). He said "No, I'll call Triumph on Monday, we'll get it in for you and you can collect and pay for it when you can. We don't want you wanting the parts and them then doubling the price or saying they just aren't going to do that anymore." That may mean them keeping the whole lot till August...

This dealer is Pidcocks of Nottigham. OK so really they're in Long Eaton, but it's nearly Nottingham. To get to them I have to pass several dealers, including the one where I bought both my Americas. They wouldn't even think of doing this for me. They don't even give me discount on my parts... I also pass dealers in Cheltenham, Birmingham (2), Stoke on Trent plus others, and Hinckley to get to my parents house (not directly - within 20 miles of the railway line though.)

I just feel so chuffed that this place has gone so out of it's way for me, at a time where luxuries are out (and this is a luxury - the wheel wiped me out...), I just want the world to know.

Gina 03 America - Pretty stock - except the TBS wheel... 06 America - missing, presumed in bits. With it's TBS wheel... 09 America - It's very blue....

A good dealer is like a good wife. Cherish them, appreciate them vocally and hold on to them! Oh, and spend money on them whenever you can!

That guy was a criminal, and giving away what wasnt his really wasnt giving. In this case, this dealer sounds quite special and one who wants to earn business.... a real neat find.

It's hard to find a REALLY good dealer, looks like you found one in your travels. Keep'um, they treat you right and give them your business in return. That is what a great dealer does and is
