The 790cc will easily outdo an 883cc Sportster. I had a Sportster and was looking to "upgrade". I bought the America and dont regret it. I put on 7000 miles in one year with no problems. The America is a good compromise in price/performance. Its also slick looking and a headturner. And the Harley tax you save can be spent on accessories
