that car in the movie "the wraith"

i think it was a dodge

I LOVED that car. The design holds up better than most. I used to watch that movie over and over again and fast forward through the bits that didn't have the car (Zod! that movie was horrible).

http://www.allpar.com/squads/pace.html
"Best known for role in The Wraith, the M4S / Dodge Turbo Interceptor is in storage at the Walter P. Chrysler museum (Derek Beland). The pace car was built by Chrysler and PPG for $1.5 million, and six additional copies were made for the movie filmed in 1986 outside of Tuscon, Arizona, starring Charlie Sheen and Nick Cassavettes. The car was rear wheel drive, with the basic 2.2 block topped by a Cosworth 16 valve, dual-cam head and fed by Bosch fuel injection with twin turbochargers (John Abram Cargo). Road & Track claimed 440 horsepower, 0-60 in 4.1 seconds, and a 12.9 second quarter mile; the mid-engine design was loosely Daytona-based.
Four still exist; one is at PPG headquarters, one is in a museum. A kit car with the same basic look was made for a while, using a different engine. It was shown at the 1986 Chicago Car Show. Reportedly, a 600 horsepower engine was installed in one copy"

Well Unique Performance, the original company that created Eleanor with Chip Fooses design, is bankrupt (financially and ethically) and the owners are in all kinds of legal trouble. But apparently Classic Restorations has been licensed by Halicki Films to start making replicas. So you still have a chance.

That is a beautiful car. As is the E-Type that is parked next to it.

Why did that Mustang get the name 'Eleanor'. Where did that name come form?

The Italian Job is one of my all time favorite movies. Except for two scenes that make me cringe everytime i see them.

The opening shots of that beautiful Lambourgini being driven in to a tractor and then dumped over a cliff, and later in the movie, One Aston Martin and two E-Types being dumped over the same cliff.

Sure would be nice, but i think unlikely. I dont think Ford have the balls to put out a car that looks this good and this exciting.

Best your likely to get from Ford is a New Fusion with go fast pin strips on the side, and furry dice on the mirror.

Showing my age, the Corvette from Route 66

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Dang , Bill , I always thought Killdozer was a 9 . Even a line of dialog went like this when they were gonna fry it - "you know that D-9 cost 90.......". I'm just confused now , I'm going to bed .

I always thought it was a 9 too and because of the line you mention. I wouldn't know a 7 from a 9 if it ran over my foot.

The 50 cars they needed to steal all got code-named girl's names so the cops wouldn't catch on. The Shelby just happened to get Eleanor. There were some pretty sweet other cars in that movie too.

Additions.
The Ferrari in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off"
The Porsche in "Bad Boys"
The Sherman in "Tank" (lol)
The TVR in "Swordfish"
Nitti's car in "The Untouchables"
The Caddy in "True Romance"

Speaking of caddys... "As your attorney, I advise you to rent a very fast car with a convertible top, preferably red" (come on, you know the movie...)

Yeah, I think you're right (in the movie anyway).
Of course, the short story/novella was written much earlier, in the '40s, I believe.
They called the dozer "Daisy Etta" which appears to be an Anglicization of "De-siete" which would be D-7 in Spanish.
