As a two-time North Carolina graduate, I have been particularly moved by this story. Two supposed gang members brutally murdered the 22 year old Student Body President of the University of North Carolina last week. She was shot 3 times, once to the right temple, while innocently going to print some course work for an exam.
The one week anniversary of her murder is today, and both of these "men" are in custody. Words alone cannot describe the promise this young lady had. All she had done was earn a full academic scholarship, earn a 4.0GPA, and rise to the highest student office at the school. Oh, and she gave back to her community and all humankind in more ways in 22 years than I will my entire life. A very sad commentary on the human condition. Just heartbreaking. It is at times like these that I lose a little more faith in God. I had very little with which to begin.
