Folks, Topic here is the next Seattle area ride. We are progressing from meet n greet to ride.
Here are some suggestions for dates (all dates are Saturdays): March 29, April 5, April19.
Ride ideas: • Kitsap loop (156 miles). • Ride to Whidbey island and back down SR11 (Anyone for Conway Pub again?). Wed have to ferry it at least once (156 miles). • Loop starting in Snohomish again, around Camano Island thru Granite Falls and back to Snohomish (120 miles).
**** There has also been a suggestion for a ride to Portland. We ride to Portland on 4-26, stay the night and ride up to the PNW RAT meet in Chehalis on 4-27 (maybe hitch a ride with the Cascade group). A rough route has it at about 460 miles, no slab. We could slab it down also and reduce time and miles.****
I might suggest another coffee meeting so you can see maps and maybe we can discuss ride ideas?

Z, Any of those routes sounds good. Or what about a loop over by Mt. Baker? Leave Piccadilly Circus and take Rt 9N to Rt 530 E up to Rt 20 W, then work our way back? I'd be a little leery of Kitsap, only because I've heard about some metal grate bridges over there. I avoid them with a passion. March 29 would be bad for me, I'll probably be coming back that day from a trip. SAR?? We need a better name, how about " Sea-Rats"? It's too bad we can't form a RAT group of our own without a dealer.

The idea of riding to Portland is to visit the Beaverton dealer and their open house on 4/26..check out their website www.cascademoto.com Hence we could spend the nite and ride home on sunday with the TRAP group, stopping at Chehalis for lunch with the other NWRat groups...toss the idea arround !!There are no dealer reqiurements for forming a rider club..it appears Triumph is willing to let everyone grass root their activities..the SARIII..is this not Seattle Area Rats???Lets come to a decision about name and order patches, shirts, mugs, secret handshakes...oh my..it goes on and on!!!

Sounds like the perfect idea Bob! We need to figure out a name and get this going! And let's not go for Seattle Area Rats, the acronym could be SARS, not the most attractive name if you know what I mean....LOL
I say an overnight in Portland on 4/26 is a great idea, i'm all up for that. As far as our next local trip, Kitsap loops sounds like a good one, but Camano is beautiful too.

Yeah I know...the acronym sucks. "Seattle area" seemed too local and I dont want to drive anyone away but PNW seems too widespread and not accurate. At least not while we are doing somewhat local rides. Sea-RATs.... . Why does the movie "Wild Hogs" come to mind.
As for the RAT group....nah! The thing with a RAT group is that you have to include ALL Triumphs. Not that I or any of us would ever discourage anyone from riding with us but lets be honest....isnt it nice to be able to "cruise" and not have to try and keep up with a bunch of sport bikes. Ive ridden with the CB RATs and its always an uncomfortable ride for me. On the last ride I simply went straight when they turned and rode most of the way alone till I caught up with a couple of guys on Vulcans. Then we rode the rest of the day and NEVER saw another one of the other RATs.
BTW...isnt a "sea rat" a seagul?

On a serious note, since we are all basically on the Eastside, maybe some type of name that focuses on our area? Or maybe something with "Puget Sound"?

I need to learn how to do multiple quotes....
Kitsap isnt bad at all. The only metal bridge is the Hood Canal. Karen and I rode across it...It really wasnt bad BUT it sure wasnt fun either. There are concrete strips that run the length so if you line up right your riding on concrete. Ive been all over kitsap in both car and on bike and its really awesome. And I would drive the route first if I could to scope it out.
Kirk...would your gf be up for joining us if she had a bike?
one other suggestion....I have all these rides kind of mapped out on MS Streets adn Trips. I can paste a picture into an email (but I cant email the maps unless you have the program). SO ... you all want to hit a Starbucks tomorrow or Wed eve and take a look? Heck...Im free tonight too since were all online right now...except Larry, and Karens out of town for a couple days.
I need to map out Bobs suggestion and get some mileage on it but it sounded good.

Tomorrow or Wednesday would work best for me. I would love to take a look at the routes you have come up with. Also, my fiancee may not go on the next one, we're still looking at bikes and she wants to take it easy for the first month or two while getting used to actual street riding.

there are some great open parking lots in Bothell....Karen drove me nuts the first few weeks...all she wanted to do was ride in the parking lot. Oh well...She should also talk to some other women that ride. Karen will talk to her and I think Seattle Cycle Center has a womens group that meets on occasion. Heck...have her join up here and ask the women questions or whatever she needs.
This sport/activity is harder for women to get the right answers than it is for men.
So...your in for "bucks" anyone else?

Conway...I mapped that out...looks good and lots of options. Snohomish to Arlington via SR9 to 530 around Baker to 20E back to SR9 (Sedro Wolley) is a very nice 99 miles. From there we can stay on 20 and come down Whidbey into Everett (175 miles total). Or we can run down to Conway Pub again and finish by going around Tulaip via Marine Drive and back to Snohomish (160 miles total).
Either way...great looking route!

There has also been a suggestion for a ride to Portland. We ride to Portland on 4-26, stay the night and ride up to the PNW RAT meet in Chehalis on 4-27 (maybe hitch a ride with the Cascade group).
That would be every cool! I havent finalized the rout to Chehalis yet for this Spring's lunch, but it may be very similar to last years.

To be a real RAT Pack reconized by Triumph, the Pack has to be sponsored by a dealer. Even when Cycle Mart closed down, the Olympia RAT still met and rode together but became unofficial until ToT opened (and the official pack is still in process with Triumph). However, there is absolutley nothing wrong about forming your own riding club.
Here is an idea, how about meeting at the Ram in Lacey and see how many fights we can get into with the HD poseurs.

Another idea for later this summer is a highway 2 to highway 20 loop. This can be done in one day, but I usually camp at Alta lake if I'am taking it easy.

Camping sounds fun. Definately a warm weather activity Bob, Larry, Steve, You guys want to meet up and discuss some rides? Kirk is up for it. Maybe just an hour or so to look at some rides, get some dates together...etc... How about later today, Starbucks in Bellevue off exit 13B (405). Its in the shopping center with the Joes, behind the Nissan dealer. If you hit the Home Depot/Best Buy you have gone too far. Heres the address: 661 120th Ave NE Bellevue WA 98005 (425) 637-9330 Say about 7pm? Ill PM everyone too.... If not no big deal. Ill just throw out dates and rides and see what sticks

Unfortunately, sleep apnea requires me to have a power supply when I sleep at night. Hmmmm...that doesn't sound right. Makes me out like one of them Star Trek Borg dudes !! LOL So, my camping days are over. Sorry.

Folks, Check this video out...at about 3:07 he gets on the Hood Canal bridge. You can see the concrete and grating...Thers a car in front of him so it gives some perspective. Hood Canal Let me know how you feel about giving this a shot? Last year Karena dn I rode over it and I was on the metal grating...not fun but not bad. Karen stayed on the concrete and she had no issues.

hey Kirk...relax, were all still here. Personally....its pretty much a waiting game for the next ride. I havent been home for the last week and a half. Ive been in So Cal (where its been awesome weather but no bike ) in meetings all day and getting boozed up all night Looks like its going to be a nice riding day up there today. Hope you all get out even for a short while. Did your girl ever get a bike? Heres all the info there is for the next ride(s). I figure while the weather is still iffy theyll be farther apart and as the weather gets better theyll increase in frequency. Id like to do the Bellingham ride again minus rain this next time tho! Nope, she hasn't bought a bike yet, but she will be very soon. I'm in for Saturday unless there is the remote chance that Washington State beats North Carolina and plays a game in the NCAA tourney on Saturday. But that probably won't happen, so I'll more than likely be in. And yes, I do like to spend $$$$.
