When changing to Metzler marathon/Lazertech tires today the mechanic commented about the braided brakelines on my America. Does the America have steel braided braken lines from the factory?

I was very surprised because I was thinking of an upgrade.

Then you didn't have them stock, have you owned it from new? Maybe the guy before you changed them if not the mechanic must have been mistaken or the dealer did it but I don't see that one happening without a request.

The brake line is black like an ordinary brake line, but the dealer said it was a brided line. Maybe it´s not braided after all?

Never really looked at the stock lines, I imagines there is some sort of reenforcment inside them but when most people speak of braided lines they are talking about the outer covering and look of the line.

My stock cables are braided/reinforced to aid performance. (They're black in colour.) You can also get braided sheathes (generally ally or stainless) which, for our bikes, would be purely cosmetic.
