Saw 'Semi-Pro last night with my GF. If your intention is to spend good money to enjoy a movie, laugh yer a$$ off, and be entertained, then SKIP THIS STINKEROO! I give it a charitable D+. This is one that should have gone straight to VHS. In fact (keeping in tune with the era it supposedley takes place in), it should have gone straight to BETAMAX. I kept wanting, hoping PRAYING that this would get better as time went on, but it never did. One or MAYbe two good laughs in the whole mess. And the worst part? Because I picked this one and it sucked, I am now obliged to let HER pick the next movie and YOU KNOW it's going to be a freakin' 'romantic comedy chick flick!' Oh, boy!! Can't WAIT to see 'Fool's Gold' or 'Wuthering Heights' or whatever... For those of you out there with a different opinion, I can only say that perhaps your expectations are more easily satisfied than my own.

Hmmm... farrell - not exactly oscar naterial. I'm not much of a movie goer - so, I avoid his work at all costs whenever I take the cinema plunge. Better to get the popcorn and go feed pigeons.

Aout the only Will Farell movie I have seen that I can stand has been "Stranger Than Fiction". Actually it was a pretty good movie. I just have little tollerance for purposely retarded moron comedy.

Another one that is pretty strange is "No Country for Old Men". Hey I like gratuitous violence just like the next guy but this movie was a little over the edge. I went with a friend and both of us pretty much thought is sucked.

Caught "American Gangster" on DVD. Despite mediocre reviews, I thought it was excellent. Tried to catch "No Country.." at the theater but it was never playing anywhere I was staying.

Will Ferrel was in Elf. I thought that was a very enjoyable movie. Its a kids movie but with two 5 year olds in the house that is about all i ever get to see nowadays.

'No Country For Old Men' was an outstanding film...
Until the last five minutes. Then it went into some unintelligable, disjointed monologue by Tommy Lee Jones.
'In The Valley Of Elah' is highly recommended and not very well known. It has Tommy Lee Jones, Susan Sarandon, and Charleze Theron starring in it, and you will NOT be disappointed.
'Stranger Than Fiction' was surprisingly well done, AND well acted by Will Farell.

It gets better (mine are 17 and 14 now). But I bet I can still quote every line in "Big Bird in China" since we watched it about 10 times a day for a year. Now that my kids are watching some of the older movies, the one liners that my wife and I have used for years "I bet the chinese food here is terrible" are making more sense to them.

I like Will Ferrell, although he's been in so much stuff the last few years, it's starting to get old. He was good in Old School, and Anchorman, good in Zoolander, and I like his SNL stuff. But then again, I like purposely retarted moron comedy.

So you guys are saying that Will Ferrell plays a clueless sort o' guy in THIS movie? Man! Can that guy "stretch" or what, huh?! Ya know, at this rate he's sure to replace Jerry Lewis as the darling of French critics within no time at all! (yep! I can see it all now in the July 17, 2012 edition of the Paris Gazette..."Le genius Ferrell es se manifique n le neuveux cinema versione a la 'The Bellboy'")

If you are slamming Will, then there are definitely attributes of quality in him. His kiss with Ali G in his race car movie was Oscar material. I absolutely loved his streaking scene in the college movie. His dramatical performance in the dramatic movie was, in one word or less, SWEET. If you didn't appreciate the baby Jesus prayer or the big fella from the green mile singing Donna Sommers then your eye for art is lacking. And, again, if Dwight is slamming him then I must love him.

I'm not saying the acting was not excellent and it didn't deserve some awards, but I'm kinda of a just/happy ending sorta guy and would have rather seen the assasin or hit guy taken down by the sheriff, hard.

it would be cool if he started to refuse the typecasting, and pick a serious movie like jim carey did. Depending on the movie it can really be a good thing for his career. Cause right now hes getting lumped in with Rob shnider, and that guys a tool.
