I had a front end shimmy. From 80kph down to 60kph on decell, it was really bad. The rear would still track true, but the front bars would really vibrate. From 100kph down to 80 it was there but not so bad.
Still under warranty but as the dealer is a good distance, did some troubleshooting using the history files on this forum. Did a dynamic balance and spot on. Checked rear alignment... everything looked ok.
Finally took it to the dealer today. The tyre was "out of round". They replaced it under warranty and no more shimmy. I found it interesting that it would dynamically balance within 5 ips and still shimmy like it did. The front tyre was the stock Metzler.
Much much better ride and I'm happy again.

Got my shimmy fixed when I eventually got my new tires put on at 25,000 k's and specifically asked for a good balance on front and rear. Came back fine with lots of weight on the back where before it hasd none at all. So I dont know if it was balance or out of round just happy to ride hands off (if I really wanted to perhaps not)

It's not that you need to ride hands off but you shouldn't have to hang on tight to prevent a shimmy. That can get tireing.

I should have added the shimmy started with only around 2,000km on the clock. Got it fixed at 3,500kms.
Also it wasn't about hands off riding, I could feel the shimmy in my arms and yes it was very "tyre"ing.
