So I finally broke down a while back and bought a blue tooth headset for my cell phone a while back. I usualy dont have the signal connected to my phone unless I am going to use it and I am in the car (I feel dumb waling around with the thing stuck to my skull looking like I am talking to myself). I have noticed something the last couple times I have crossed the state line into Washington. Just as I am passing through Vancouver, my phone decides that if my headset is in proximity to to my headset, it will connect itself. I am sure it has nothing to do with it being the law now in Washington that use have to use a hands free device.

my bluetooth auto connects to my cell when they are close together.. most cells have an option to take the auto connect off if you don't want this happen.. it has nothing to do with the WA state laws.. we still have a lot of dumb asses that drive at high speeds with their cells attached to their skulls with one hand.

Nope, it has nothing to do with that. Something tells me that you may be changing from one cell service to another and the new service maybe a different connection protocol. Your cell phone may have a program coding issue that resets to the new signal type causing the auto-connect. Most phones are tri-mode , CDMA, TDMA and analog carrier. You may switch from Verizon CDMA to at&t/cingular TDMA or old analog carrier. both Verizon and at&t still have some analog technology hanging on the towers. Especially if they have minimal bandwidth to that cell tower (T1 instead of fiber optics). In other words there is a reason besides the law.

'Chiller' is a new channel on cable/satellite and it shows 'Night Gallery' every weekday. I love it, but some are much better than others. The two I remember best from Night Gallery are "The Sin Eater' and 'The Caterpillar.' The Caterpillar is about a guy who has an earwig crawl into his ear and lay eggs. The eggs hatch in his ear and then start eating his brain. (Boooowahahahahahaha...) Isn't it amazing that someone in the 70's predicted Bluetooth devices??

I think this episode may have had a motorcycle in it somewhere, which makes this story completely relevent to the forum...
