After the earthquake the other day we are now in the middle of a storm. High winds and torrential rain. Wouldn't be surprised if there is some structural damage locally at this rate. Global warming eh ?
If you do it today you MIGHT regret it. If you CAN'T do it tomorrow you WILL regret it.

I dont want to scare you but: In 1961 I was told we would run out of food in the world by the year 2000, The worlds Oil supply was going to have run out completely by 1990, We were all going to be killed by a nuclear holocaust. All this by the same people now worrying about global warming. Anyway, global warming is of no concern, we will have all been killed by a giant meteorite long before that matters - must be true I saw it on the telly! So... Eat drink and be merry - for tomorrow we die!

Weren't we supposed to all be commuting by folding car/planes and personal helicopters by sometime in the 50's or 60's?

On that date, the Earth lines up with the mysterious forgotten 13th figure of the Zodiac, Schmenge, the Accordian Player, and the center of the Milky Way galaxy.
This is truly the beginning of Armageddon, which can only be prevented by slapping Al Gore repeatedly in the face and the nether regions until he recounts his claim of inventing the internet....

With the Mrs and I just living a stones throw from the Irish sea, we had the wind and the rain last night. We could not get to sleep as the roof structures were creaking and the wind and rain hitting the bedroom window.
I suppose that's is a price you pay for buying a house so close to the sea..

Global Warming - Something to think about. When Mount Saint Helen erupted in 1980 it threw more carbon dioxide, sulpher dioxide and Ash into the atomsphere than all the automobiles and factories combined for the last 100 years. It affected the climate for about 7 years. When Krakatoa erupted in 1883 it was the largest eruption in recorded history and threw 23 million tons of polution into the atomsphere and caused the little ice age. Don't get me wrong I still think we need to be responsible and not pollute our air and waterways. I also, think we need to be realistic. We also need to understand that by not building nuclear power plants or other types of green power plants we're creating a huge problem by burning coal for power. When we burn coal it releases mercury into the atomsphere which falls with rain into the ocean, lakes and rivers. This is why fish have mercury. Also, coal and oil burning power plants produce other pollution which cause ashma and other respriatory conditions. Thousands of people die from these conditions each year. Yet people don't want nuclear power plants which have the least affect on our environment. Yes they're costly to build and decommision but in the long run they're the cheapest and cleanest. IMHO

+1 we need to reconsider nuclear
Here's something else to ponder: unlike going back and fitting Nostradamus' predictions to fit current events, the Mayan calendar is still more accurate than ours and is still working, predicting (very accurately) planetary alignments, eclipses, and other heavenly events.

i dont understand why we are not putting wind and hydrogen at the top of our list for power sources??? of course if we took the oil companies out of the equation maybe we could get there?? and why arnt we burning the trash we collect to get us power??? and if we want to stop global warming, we need to kill all the cows to stop the methane gas from that source. i am a firm believer in the harnesing of the power of the wind and sun!!!!! we have the technoligy, we need to use it!!!! there is no money to be made if everyone had there own wind generator and solar panels so why would "they" want us to go in that direction. OH D@#$%T WHY DID I LOOK AT THIS POST, THERE GO'S MY BLOOD PRESSURE AGAIN!!!!
Let me see, it gets dark and cloudy all the time. The wind is inconsitent and unpredictable. Those are supplemental power sources at best. Sure you could store power if you had a huge string of batteries. Try running large appliances, well pumps and heating system on on personal wind and solar power.

Because it's free? Here on the farm we have a long term plan to incorporate solar and wind as an assist to the TVA supplied electrical source. Now that components are becoming available on the market and aren't cobbled together as one-ofs the whole scheme is much more appealing.
Now if we'd just get over the current national distaste for the French we could acquire their nuclear recycling technology and we'd really be getting somewhere.
