HEY!!!! I just noticed that I have graduated to the lofty rank of 'POOH-BAH'!!! In celebration, I invite everyone over to my house this evening for tasty adult beverages. Offer good tonight ONLY, and you have to bring your own tasty adult beverage. (I'll supply the chips and the 'warm, homey, atmosphere of brotherhood.') We'll all sit around, consume our respective beverages, and polish my bike, while I supervise and make pithy comments about the Second Amendment and the impact of Scientology on Tom Cruise's chance of getting an Academy Award for 'Lifetime Achievement.' OR We could second guess the contestants on 'Smarter Than a Fifth Grader.' Whuddaya say??? BTW, where has Dwight been the last several days?? I miss his SPEAKING IN CAPS to make a point...

Dwight only gets in the middle of threads that have some type of intellectual disagreement. Why stir an empty pot?
I try to aggravate one person a day. Today may be your day.

They should through this idiot in jail and throw away the key. If he felt threatened he should have gone in the house with the girls and called the cops. Moron is too good a name for this guy.

See I knew about this case but decided not to post it cause I kinda knew that the thread would go array... Anyway, this is still under investigation and not all the facts have been released to the media yet. I bet you the cops aren't even finished collecting witnesses accounts yet. All I'm saying here is that it is too early to jump to any conclusions lets see how this case develops. Neal Boortz was talking about this case this morning and apparently this is not the first time that there is a shooting in this guy's property. edit link to story in local radio station story

I was thinking that myself. It has been very quiet around here with no Dwightisms. I guess this retired lifestyle is really suiting him. Maybe hes got himself some white pants, white loafers and hes gone to play Bowls with the old folk.

I can't believe that no one's called you on this John Muskets are muzzle loading!!! Breech loaders use cartridges and didn't become successful until the mid 19th century. Though some were developed as early as the 1300s. Sheesh!! Buy 'em books, send 'em to school..........................

Having read all the reactions here, the twists and turns and inevitable insults, perceived or intended, there is still just one conclusion - someone is dead, and several people will pay the price.
I heard this "news item" discussed on 2 talk radio shows. Both hosts immediately responded with the "dirtbag biker" scenario. We can rant and rave all we want, but to this day, in the public's eye, any incident involving a motorcyclist evokes the "dirtbag/hooligan/social deviant" image.
We need to change that by example. Shake your head and ride away. Stop where you are and call the police. Don't figure you can change years of biker image by reasoning with someone - it just won't work.
Ride safe - eyes open.

I actually KNEW this information, and had I edited my own posting with some small bit of attention to detail, I would have caught it. Fortunately, I wasn't on a game show with mucho dinero at stake, or I would have really blown it and kicked myself in the teeth for doing so.
Thanks, Bill, for setting the record straight.

Oconee County investigators have seized the car two Bogart teens were driving Monday night when they squabbled with a motorcyclist - a fight that ended when the girls' father allegedly shot and killed the biker.

Motorcyclists from across the state are rallying in Mough's memory and plan a group ride from a service station off Interstate 85 in Duluth to Mough's funeral, which is scheduled for noon Saturday at Carter Funeral Home in Winder.

Two very interesting statements here. Quote:
Frenzied Internet bloggers have written dozens of theories and scenarios about what happened Monday, many of the postings fueled by the fact that authorities have released few details about what led to the shooting.
Well that i can believe, just look at us...Guilty as charged.
Quote:
The sheriff also would not discuss what the Gear sisters told their father before the shooting, beyond that they claimed a man was following them and intentionally rammed their car with his motorcycle.
I dont buy this. We all know, no motorcycle rider with half a brain in his head will deliberatly ram his bike into a car. Girls, you need a better storey than that.

In John's world the girls might just be culled from the herd along with daddy. While the blame stops with the finger that pulled the trigger, I'd bet money that the girls whipped daddy up into a frenzy on the phone. Hmmm, I think that's the first time I've referred to myself in the third person.

If, and i use the word IF because we are all just speculating here. But if the girls did in fact lie to their father which then made him so mad as to pull the trigger. Would or could the two girls get charge with accessory to murder.

Gear Richard H. & Dianna 155 Gear Rd Bogart, GA 30622 Note: Gear Road. Other gears that own property blocks from the murderer: John Arthur Gear Vera Gear Cora Nell Gear Zuber Seems like his name is an old name in Bogart. Did gear's ole boy network saved him before? Quote:
Investigators also are taking a new look at a 2-year-old case in which Gear may have fired a gun at a group of teenagers.
Gear called Oconee deputies the night of Feb. 25, 2006, to complain that a car knocked over his mailbox after he chased a group of trespassers from his property. The trespassers were neighborhood teens who were arguing with one of Gear's daughters and her boyfriend, according to one teen's mother.

Nah Mark! These shuffleboard tournaments here at The Home are murder, I'm tellin' ya! Zachary over in Room 241 is pretty tough to beat unless you're well rested, ya know!!!
(actually I've been busy doing some modifications to the Prescott house this week)
Now...regarding this thread....
The liberties this country guarantees also guarantee that percentage-wise there are always going to be a higher percentage of people such as this father out there among us who show little constraint in their actions, because these liberties also guarantee people such as this father the right to NOT use that organ nestled between their ears, and thus unfortunately situations such as this seem to be the price we pay to reach the heights of self-expression in this country, for good or bad.
(in other words...this kind'a stuff doesn't shock or surprise me one little bit anymore)

So there's no internet access at the Prescott house? I may have to rethink May...

Prescott is where I'm at right now, John. But instead of usin' this here keyboard this week I've just been busy using hammers and saws, and hangin' drywall.
And now before I head back to that mass of humanity(aka: Los Angeles) tomorrow, I've got to clean up this mess today.
(see ya later dude!)

Who knows? The kid could've had murderous intent. But his actual actions did not justify the response. Look, I have a gun and wouldn't hesitate to shoot someone threatening me with bodily harm on my property, but this is ridiculous. Daddy needs to have an example made of him.
I agree, I am also armed but don't shoot at anoyone driving down the road no matter who they are following. Now if the guy had stopped and threatened me or member of my family I would first call the cops , then ask him to leave, if he made a threatening move then he could get shot if I though me or mine were in danger. I have learned the hard way not to depend on the cops to protect me.
I learned all I need to know about life by killing smart people and eating their brains. Eat right ,Exercise ,Stay fit, Die Anyway!
