Better filtering doesn't always equate to higher pressure/reduced flow. If you have twice as many holes that're half the size you can still pass as much oil/minute, but the particles that're trapped are smaller. It also would (as has been pointed out) stand up to a greater knock than an aluminium spin-on, and would (eventually) offer cost savings. Of course it also looks better but you wouldn't notice unless you put the bike on a lift. The price is too high for me though, so tempting as it is I'll not be buying one today.
