My son, having totalled an SV650 and a GSX600 in accidents that were not his fault (ok he fell of the GSX a few times in the wet) and has suffered broken bones but NEVER EVER rides without full leathers, proper boots and gloves and a full face helmet.
He will not ride with me if I have my open face helmet on.
There are four of his full face helmets in the garage with nasty grooves where his face would have been in any other type of helmet.
