I just got new Carbone Lorraine pads from Brent. I plan to flush the old fluid while I'm at it, but was wondering about applying some backing plate goo to reduce noise. Also, does anyone use those abrasive tricks (like a scotch green pad) in a die grinder or drill to smooth the discs? Mine both look fine, but I'm sure they have some surface imperfections.
Also, I noticed that the front pads are the SBK5+ for sportbikes and the rears are RX3 for street bikes. WTF?? Any input is appreciated. Oh, the original owner (rode the BA only 2400 miles out of the 13,000 total) must have used the back brake only, because the pads look almost the same now (1-2 mm or so just looking at them on the bike) as it did when I got it. The front pads are OK so I'll hold off replacing them for now. BTW, I have the stock rotors. A set of the floaters would be nice, maybe when the OEMs need replacing.

Squirt some brake cleaner on the discs and then wipe them down.

use a little brake fluid on the caliper pistons, seems to stop or reduce the sticking caliper syndrome

Clean all brake parts well with brake cleaner careful not to over spray getting it on your paint. You could use a scotch brike on the rotors but I just spray some brake cleaner on a rag. I also put a very light coat of anti-sieze lubricant on the caliper pins. A little goes a long way. Do not get any of the anit-sieze on the brake pads. No need to rough up your new pads in my opinion.
