Parents rarely agree with theirs sons choice in women, and when they do it is very hard for them to accept a change. But they will so dont fret it. You might have bigger issues with your new girl. How does she fell about you caring for your ex.
Ask her, "my ex is in hospital hurt, do you mind if i go visit her". If she says, "yes thats 'FINE'" you are in a heap of trouble.
