.....we knew they had tested anything from 1500 to 1800 or even 1900

I don't know who you mean by "we", but your "we" ALSO got the above info from me.

This is what I said in a post on April 15th.

When I was at the Athens bike show a second time (the previous weekend to last) my source told me that they had originally been testing 1500, 1600, 1700, 1800 right up to 1900cc..
He still reckons he was told a 1600cc (or perhaps slightly less e.g. 1590cc) but couldn't confirm the exact displacement.

See a resemblance? You won't find that anywhere else on here (as is the case with the name Thunderbird - prior to this thread). Please don't quote the MCN article, that only mentioned 1820 and 1920cc and not that Triumph had been testing all these displacements..

You will also note how specific his displacement details are (1600cc (or perhaps slightly less e.g. 1590cc ).

For verification check the thread below:
Thread 1500-1900

Oh and by the way, as stated in my post earlier, my source tells me Triumph will also be offering an upgrade kit for the 1600 up to a 1700 ... but I guess your "we" already knew that too.
