Any idea on price and will it come from Hinkley or Thailand

It will be built in Antarctica and cost 130,000 pingus.

Soooo you're sayin' that instead of it being assembled in Thailand by Thais, it's gonna be assmembled in Antarctica by Ants??? Is THAT what you're sayin' here, Bill???

I had NO idea!!! Well, I suppose Ants MIGHT work even cheaper than even Thais would, huh?!

(BTW...I can't seem to find that "pingus" thing on my currency converter...what gives???)

I just wish Triumph would be a bit more forthcoming about the bikes they are building. Seems like their secrecy works against them. They need to let the Bike-buying public know what's coming out. Heck, I want a 1700cc Triumph, but am ****** tired of all of the "supposedly" threads and rumors that are so freakin prevalent on the 'net. I want a bike that I can sit on. Not one that is a ghost. I hopy you guys all remember me? I'm the guy who pops up on all these mystery new Triumph posts to say how I'm perfectly happy with the displacement and configuration of good old Speedy. Someday, I may decide to go the big bore route, but I'm not sure it's worth it.

All of you guys who want a large displacement bike, there are plenty to choose from. Bikes with tons and tons of technology and available for a very good price. To me, Triumph will always mean an air-cooled, chain-drive, parallel twin motorcycle that is light and beats the pants off of similar bikes from other brands. That is what made the brand so famous and that heritage is what drew me to it when I was looking for a bike 4 years ago. I will have another bike or two, but will keep my '03 Speedy.

How about calling it Thunderchicken instead to avoid confusion. If it looks like the spy shot they could just use a new name and call it buttugly , or maybe sellsnot.

I have to say, the specifics sound pretty accurate, I spoke with my local dealer about a month ago, he had the same info, but I couldn't remember it exactly, so did not post anything. He also said he was going to England this summer for a meeting. Bedouin, I thank you for informing us of what you know.

.....could really do with a full touring fairing and luggage to hide that ugly......HD are peeing their pants with laughter if they were expecting some competition. Do Trumpet employ any colonial () style advisers and market research people ?

Dog33,
I agree that bike in the spy shot was ugly.
Somehow I doubt it will end up like that.
Let's not forget manufacturers heavily disguise their upcoming bikes during the testing phase.

Brummie,
I have a little more faith in their design abilities (assuming it's not like the bike in the spy shot).
They haven't done too badly design-wise lately.
Given the displacement and alleged high number of accessories/customising products, it looks like they are gearing up to directly compete with HD (thus underwriting a huge investment/risk).
I suspect the HD crowd should not be too quick to pee in their pants with laughter just yet as they may be walking funny for other reasons afterwards.

The cyl and head look bad and so does the rad.I hate the water cooled look so I certainly hope they make it look more like a classic air cooled bike even if it is water cooled. I don't care how big it is there is no way I would consider swapping my SM for it. Now if they want to give me one to road test and give them an opinion after 100,000 miles or so I would be glad to help.

When, oh when are folks going to accept that with the emissions standards that exist today, that Air-Cooled engines are not compliant anymore? Carbs are a thing of the past. Clean Air standards are too restrictive to allow air-cooled, carbeurated engines to be produced today. We gotta stop living in the past if we want to live in the future.

The air will last as long as I have left to live! So let it be air cooled and carbs til I die, then I don't care.

Nonsense. The Chinese made it happen, so can the Western world.

Sure hope the 1620 shifts on the right at least.

Nuts, China is the biggest pollution generator in the world. Besides, untill they come up with emissions controls for politicians, there is no hope. Everyone knows that BS and hot air are major sources.

Camouflage perhaps?
The spy shot bike looks like a parts-bin excercise ... yuck!.
Latest Speedmaster wheels, pipes look like they were ripped off a building's external drainage system.
Could be that they were testing the engine only.

Do you think the ladder will be an accessory or come with each model? I hope they at least offer a chrome version.

Yeah, then the new thread will start about how ugly/harley-ish/japanese the actual production bike looks.

This is a new bike.
I don't understand the disappointment expressed by some that it's not a "bigger, better America"

It will apparently be a modern engineered, mid sized (1600cc is "mid" sheesh) cruiser.
Get over it.

Thanks Thanassis

That should not matter. It's still putting out 95 hp. My friend who owns a harley had to buy the screaming eagle package along with the over priced bike to get 95 hp......Angelis

Uh... this bike isn't putting out ANY horsepower yet.

But i did hear it'll be available in Goodwood Green.
