Quote: In June, 2007 Bedouin told us the "1500" was coming in September 2007 as a 2008 model. You can look it up.
Ah, my good man ... you doubt my credibility?
Um ... please read my original post again more carefully.
This is what my post said on in June 2007 (which you are referring to), which BTW, was me translating an article from a Greek magazine:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This is an excerpt from an article by motorcycle guru/journalist Alan Cathcart, (also correspondent to a Greek m/c magazine).
Quote,
The new Triumph Street Triple 675 ...
... will be the first in a series of new models produced by the British manufacturer. Amongst them, we'll see the Rocket III Tourer, the 1.500cc Parallel Twin cruiser, the dual-purpose Tiger Cub 675 and the 3-cylinder Daytona 1100 Superbike.
... For 2008, Triumph is expecting to launch a range of 1.500cc parallel twin models it has been developing over the last 4 years, which will probably have shaft drives.
Unquote
He goes on to mention that within the 1.500cc range, their will be a Speedmaster-like cruiser and the Mega-Bonneville with an 8-valve engine.
Launch time is September yes? Not too long now ... ---------------------------------------------------------
The previous (lesser) mystery we were speculating on in Sept 06 were the changes to the America/Speedmaster models.
Again the national distributor here gave me some info (and I immediately reported it here, again a FIRST as some will recall ) which turned out to be SPOT ON!
What I said:
----------------------------------------------- Extra! Extra! Read all about it!
Ok guys, here's the scoop for the day:
I have just had a word with the National distributor in Greece for Triumph who tells me the following:
Regarding the larger capacity cruiser - Triumph is only talking about it - nothing yet. This translates that it is in development but unlikely for 2007 (unless launched mid-season)
The America changes for 2007: The 865 cc motor. Cast wheels. Adjustable hand controls (clutch and brake). Larger pillion seat. Polished lower forks. Changes to the pillion footrest hangers (I didn't quite get the difference).
The Speedmaster changes for 2007: Different cast wheels. Polished lower forks. Changes to the pillion footrest hangers (I didn't quite get the difference). Blackened cylinder heads (totally black including cooling fins or something???)
This your BA.COM correspondent "Da Bedouin" from the Meditteranean, signing out. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If the info given to me today proves correct, then I believe Dwight gave us the Thunderbird name (around a year ago) to us from one of his sources and Yota has been consistent with his claim that it will be 1600cc.
Again, this your BA.COM correspondent "Da Bedouin" from the Meditteranean ... signing out.
