Well I gotta say I've used a lot of strings and inexpensive isn't the same as cheap. I'm surprised that a grasser isn't singing the praises of John Pearse.
Elixirs are good strings, I use them a lot for smokers since that wrapping keeps them alive a good bit longer but the string tension is definitely higher and they lack a certain attack response that I look for. To each his own though since ultimately every guitarist pleases themselves first (as it should be).

I use Martins on the acoustic & Ernie Ball on the electrics. I hate the sounds of new strings...I like 'em when best when 1/2 dead. 
we should do this every weekend!

I don't have many regrets in this life, but not being able to play a guitar (or any intrument) is one of them.
I'm tone def and like Dirty Harry said "a man's got to know his limitations".
I'll continue to appreciate but not participate in music.

nice one! I know you'll love it. I bought mine new about 8-9 years ago but mine has a clear pick guard and no fret markers, satin finish. If yours is a P-01 and has them, that shatters what I thought about how they're finished. I thought those were additions that came on P-3 and newer. Learning everyday!
Anyway, the parlors are great and come highly recommended.
I was drooling on one of the new sunburst ones at the Larivee booth at NAMM this year and James Burton walked by and told me "that's the only thing you'll ever need". I saw him later at Rickenbacker and we chatted about them. He was just hanging out looking at guitars. And getting his picture taken with jokers like me...

GSA has begun(GSA=guitar separation anxiety.)
Brought Milo to the luthier of choice for his upgrade procedure.
2 guits in shop now. Milo and the Strat.
2 different luthiers.
i'll be okay. if i just remember to breathe.
did a bit of Henry unplugged tonight.
miss my little boy though. he's like a puppy to me.
want him in top form for Georgia. ahhhh, bone saddle...
i can hear the resonance now.
