Actually, based on the old cars you saw in the movie, I thought it was actually based in the 50's. Especially, when at the end, there is a reunion of the "December Boys" and they were o-l-d-e!!

It seems they did a good job of dating everything else, I guess they couldn't find a vintage bike that they could take flying through the surf.

Seeing the Triumph WAS the highlight of this film.
