Funny this comes up, the same thing just happened to me last week. I changed my oil and filter with AMSOIL and there filter SMF103-C on saturday morning and rode about 70 miles over about 4 or 5 days, well thursday morning on my way to work i stop at a light and POW and i hear this hissing noise, well i thought it was a flat tire, i take off around the corner to find somewhere to pull over next thing i know i am all over the road the back tire was doused in oil. I probably rode 200 yards and all my oil was on the street. Thank the (big guy) it waited to blow because i had just got off the highway and was moving along at a good clip, anyway what seems to have happened is some filters the center where it screws on is to high and it bottoms out on the nipple it has a nut on it, i guess it can be removed if need be, but the filters with this problem seem to hit the nut and stops the filter from tightening correctly i thought maybe i was the only one this had happened to i guess not. anyway look at the filter you took off if its all scuffed around the hole it hit bottom. the filters should not hit the nut on the nipple if its the right filter. I will only use Fram PH6017A from now on the center of these filters are much deeper and will never bottom out it will pull the nipple out of the engine first. this is something worth keeping an eye on it can be a very dangerous situation if this happens when your cruising MAN this could get very messy (no joke) the back end of my bike was covered with oil, anyway lets keep an eye on these filters guys
