I am wanting to put some old finned exhaust collars on my america. Has anyone done this? I am not sure what size the primary pipe is out of the head but I do have some 1 3/4" collars. Anyone help? I would appreciate it. Take care all.

I don't know how you would get them in place there are the 2 tabs that secure the headers to the head and there is a tab on the other end for the rear header mount and if you could get past that there is that crossover pipe on your bike. You may have to split them in half and then I'm not sure the clamping bolt would hold with the opposite side cut.

Not to mention you might have to whack a few fins to clear the oil cooler lines....

Another possible caution - There is a hole on the bottom of the outer jacket just before it meets the inner header pipe. My assumption is this allows expanded hot air to escape. Blocking that hole will possibly have negative results. 1. Heat build-up.(Blueing) 2. Pressure build-up (Bulging of the outer pipe). 3. Colapse of the inner pipe. -or - 4. Possible colapse of the outter pipe due to vacuum when cooling. 2,3,4 are probably unlikely because it would be pretty hard to get that tight a seal - however, it's remotely possible. 1 is more likely of all to occur. If the fins fit I'd be tempted to drill a corresponding hole in the things to be sure the addition has no adverse consequences. You may think I'm pulling this out of my ******, but I see this fairly frequently in dbl.walled industrial piping (often where heat/pressure extreems are NOT as great as exhaust gas temperatures).

Dwight must not be reading this. He has some on his America. Look good too. I know he had to do some mods, just to the collars I think.
