Some of those car crash pics remind me of an incident that took place a few years back at work.
Our manager had ordered a new "locomotive" for our airplane container stacking rack system which was built in Germany. It arrived all the way on a ship into San Pedro and then was loaded on truck for the short ride to LAX in great shape. The driver in the truck got off the San Diego Fwy and then drove under the freeway overpass that crosses under Imperial Hwy and to our warehouse just a mile away.
Yep, you guessed it. The locomotive was 31 feet tall, and the overpass was only 27 feet high.
(our manager, who had pleaded for years with HDQs for this new locomotive just cried when he drove down the street and saw what happened)
