Mid-Atlantic Raid on Fort McHenry, Maryland – (sub)Urban Assault!! June 20-21 Here’s what I’m Proposing: On the Evening of June 20th, a Raid by British Motorcycle Enthusiasts on The Gentlemen’s Clubs of North Point Boulevard and Beyond, to Show that although Demoralized at North Point, Arguably the Back Breaker of The Battle of Baltimore during the War of 1812, the English Carry On. At Noon, On June 21st, A Raid by more British Motorcycle Enthusiasts on Fort McHenry, defender of the city of Baltimore Maryland during the war of 1812, Home of The Star Spangled Banner and cursed Internment Camp for Confederate Soldiers as well as a Large Number of Maryland politicians when Abraham Lincoln suspended Habeas Corpus During the Early Days of the American Civil War! The Raid on Fort McHenry will start at My Residence, continuing Over the Majestic Francis Scott Key Bridge, leading to The Time Honored “Daniel’s†for Lunch. The Raid will then Continue On to Fort McHenry. After Visiting the Fort, we will Continue through the City of Baltimore, Beginning a 3 to 4 hour Ride through the Beautiful Horse Country of Northern Baltimore County, staying Just South of the Mason-Dixon Line (by The Grace of God), Complete with 3 or 4 Stops along the Way, Including The Union Hotel and Big Fall’s Inn. Space IS Limited, But All Are Welcome, Northerners, Brits and alike, to Take Repast and Slumber at My Home for the Nights of June 20th and 21st, as a Central Hotel or Motel is Not Available. We have 3 Extra Rooms for Couples Desiring a Modicum of Privacy (but not Comfort – we have rooms, not Beds!), 3 Sofas, And Floor Space for Eight to Ten Raiders. There is Also Room for 6 to 8 small Tents. Please let me Know of Your Interest In Participating so Arrangements can be Made!! This is A Fair Weather Event!! There are Hotels and Motels within 10 Minutes of My Residence, But I Cannot Vouch for Their Safety or Comfort. just an fyi - the visiting of gentlemen's clubs the night before the raid on fort mchenry does not preclude this from being a co-ed event!!

that is the opposite of a "rain or shine event". in other words, if the weather channel says it is going to pour all weekend, and it really looks like it will, the whole danged thing is off. if twc calls for scattered showers, the whole danged thing is on. in my neck of the woods the weather can change pretty quickly and predictably and it is usually fair but we do on occasion get socked in ergo ipso facto the 'fair weather' dictum. capisce?

i think there was a tornado in la plata that day as well and all in all turned out to be a great time!! i even ran out of gas that day at the foot of the key bridge! i'm sure it was hilarious to the cop when he gave me a full five gallon can of gas (thank goodness he was cool enough to run and get a gas can!!) with one of those funky safety lids, and no funnel, and me shivering with hypothermia - standing there with my rain suit pants split wide open at the crotch. i poured gas all over the bike, me and the ground - and then drove the 5 miles home!! the only way i'd consider the weather for cancelling is if we were truly socked in for days of rain, which rarely happens.

Don't know why I keep thinking Baltimore is way up near Maine or something. Only about 11 hours for me here in the ATL im thinkin...sounds like fun, not totally out of the question....but not likely....ya'll have fun.

2 things. first, 6/21/2008 is the summer solstice with a full but waning moon. it'll be 15 hours of sunlight followed by a 92% full moon!! second, the raid is the same days as the last weekend of laconia. if you're heading south from laconia, drop on by!!
