My wife got me a Mr. Beer kit for Christmas. I did my first batch according the instructions and had mixed results.
After bottling, only three bottles of 8 got "rock hard" - meaning they were "done" - the other five never got hard. The three bottles that did get hard, tasted good - not excellent, not bad, but drinkable and better than a Bud any day of the week. A 4th bottle was drinkable - the other four went down the drain.
My theory is I contaminated the last 5 bottles. When bottling, I discovered it was kind of a PITA to get the sugar into the bottle, so I found a funnel and used it. My guess is it didn't get sanitized properly.
Just yesterday I started a 2nd batch. So we'll know in a few weeks if it's better.
