Got my grips the other day. After reading the instructions and removing my stock grips I thought to myself
"Myself, how would I get these dang things off after they glued in place."
The stock endcap does a real nice of keeping the grips secure. And it's nice to remove the grips easily with an air compressor.

Has anyone attempted to modify the Kuryakyn grip ends so they will accept a countersunk allen bolt that will screw in the stock handlebar inserts?

I think i've seen a thread like this - try searching for kuryakyn ends.

Not that I'm aware of , you go drillin' holes in chrome , you got peeling issues .

I put a set of Kuryakyn ISO grips on also and I used the whole bottle of glue that they supplied, and sure enough a week later I needed to remove them for some reason. I personaly had no issues once I broke the glue by grippin it tight and twisting it by hand, picked most of the glue out of the inside with my finger nail, and used a blade on the handle bar and then reglued it with store bought super glue when I reinstalled it.

Hair spray works well.
It's been mentioned a few times on these boards.

Not trying to threadjack here, but has anyone else have any problems with the kuryakyn grips leaving black stains on their hands? Love the look, hate the black stuff. Or maybe I just have really sweaty hands when I ride.

I get the black hands, too. I guess its like the kneepads, rubber wears off over time

it was worse when they were new, I dont know, maybe there was a coating over them, it got better, never really stopped

I didn't like the switchblades for the similar reasons. The rubber on them was not tacky enough. My boots wanted to slip off em. Heavy too. I gave them back to Kenny and Tam.

Shame on Küryakyn. I do like their Positronic Robot though.

The chrome on my dually footpegs is coming off too, and it's only been 5 years...the chrome on the grips is ok..but I most always ride with gloves...but the few times I have I didn't notice any black...

A couple of wraps of double sided sticky tape and some lighter fluid or lacquer thinner dumped on the tape, then slide the grips on... works for golf club grips....
Never did glue my grips on. Maybe something about changing the handlebars 3 times...<G>

Man that's too bad I wanted to replace my factory ones with these but it seems like ppl have different issues with them.

What other alternatives are out there for our bikes?

I got black hands too.. WD40 works wonders on removing glued on grips

I kept the stock grips on and covered them with black leather (could be other colors)and attached them with leather cord laced along the length of the grip.
I positioned the raised lace so it ran parrelel to the grove where my finger joints rest (at cruising speed throttle position)on the grip. This niciley provided a grip of sorts acting like a throttle boss. Same set has been on the bike for a year now and cost about $13 to make with enough supplies left to make one to two more sets.

How bout this. Couldn't you put a washer between the cap and the grip to bolt on the grips? You would only have to drill out the four holes in the washer to fit the cap over it, and using a flush mount screw would solve cap clearance.
