We are at present getting battered with high winds, taking ridge tiles off etc. Took dog for a walk along the promenade and noticed a very low flying helicopter going out to sea so went up on the sea wall to see a ship being blown about in the water, apparently this ship is from Ireland en-route to Heysham and got hit by a 7 metre wave and now she is listing. All crew are being evacuated (19) and 4 passengers, the RAF and coast guard are air lifting them off.
You got to hand it to these guys who fly these helicopters, it must be hitting 100 mph out there at the moment, High tide is 6am, but the wind is blowing the tide and it is only around 100 metres off shore..
