My dad gave me another bike. He was looking to get back into riding and a guy down the street was selling his 79 Yamaha 650 Special II. (First, Wendi's Virago and now this) Dad bought it but just can't seem to manage it. It is too tall and while he can get on, he can't get off by himself. So, he knew my wife was starting to ride so he gave the bike to me thinking she could move up to it later. It is in great condition with 14000 miles on it. I need to give it a tune up and get it through emissions but will probably wind up selling it as I want something newer and shorter for her. I am running out of room but that is a good problem to have.

If that's what I think it is...mag wheels & double discs up front, those are really cool bikes...it'll be the perfect cafe project.

I had a new 1978. Good bikes. I bought it cause it looked like my first triumph. But I can guaruntee they don't handle like Triumphs, as I learned the hard way.

The mag wheels and double disc front brakes was the Special model. The Special II has the spoke wheels and a single front disc with a rear drum.

Dad couldn't get off it because of his arthritic-creaking joints! Serious bummer! But, he bought it anyway 'cause of the very low asking price.

Next step for Dad: exercises, stretching, and general limbering up! (Actually, next step is 63rd b'day.)
