I know we've done this before, but with all the recent music discussion, I thought it time for an update.
Regardless of genre
1. Favorite Highway Album? 2. Favorite Highway song? 3. Favorite Performer of Highway music.

You're not alone... On the bike I listen exclusively to the Thunderbike concerto. In the truck I have several mp3 cd's - mixes of 40's/50's/60's/70's - just about every genre from those decades and some classical thrown in now and then. Hit "random play" and hit the road.

1. Favorite Highway Album-"Abbey Road" and "On The Border"..listen to those two on every trip to Prescott and back. 2. Favorite Highway song-"Born To Run" 3. Favorite Performer of Highway music-The Eagles, I guess?
And a nod to Toonces here...Beethoven's Sixth("Pastoral") Symphony, and Dvorak's "New World Symphony"(what all music in all Hollywood Westerns is pretty much based on)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Just got my first iPod for Christmas. My hubby is soooo sweet. Most of what I put on it is classic 70's Rock & Roll. Styx, Journey, Kansas, Foreigner, Queen, etc. Haven't tried in on the bike yet though.

get some good ear buds befor you try it on the bike Amy. I use ones that seal into my ear and block out the wind noise. If you try to use the Ipod ear buds that came with it, the only time you will hear music is when your sitting still.

Sadly, these days it seems to be a crime to NOT have loud music or a TV on all the time. Voice overs on most TV programmes are now difficult to hear because more often than not, the music is either unsuitable and/or too loud. The Computer simulations used extensively on Discovery channel programs are inappropriate and uneccesary. If they are trying to keep the attention of those with a short attention span they are wasting their time, most of those don't get past the music channels. Football grounds are horrendous because they usually have a sheeite sound system and it is turned up to full volume. On our local trains we have TV's and you can't get away from it. People play loud music on their mobile phones, and the hiss, hiss, hiss from ipods constantly spoil the journey. In pubs and bars they have TV's all over the place, often showing different channel and a jukebox running at the same time. At our social club the bartender puts the Jukebox on as soon as he opens the lounge. As the room fills up and people are talking, they turn the volume up so then the customers shout louder - so then they turn the volume up..... In the Family room, more often than not, the TV, Jukebox and Computer games Plus a members ipod (connected to the speaker system) are all on and turned up to full volume concurrently so everyone is shouting. As soon as someone walks into the Members Only bar, they switch the TV on - and then ignore it ! Even when there is non of the above, you often get some loud mouthed twats sitting next to each other both talking at the same time and shouting as if they are a mile appart. So it's brilliant when I can get on the bike and listen to (and feel) the world around me as I enjoy the trip. We often slate cagers for having their loud music on and not hearing us, and use it to justify loud pipes on our bikes which then annoy folks and the cops. If I feel the need, I sing to myself or if I get bored I take a break because I lose concentration. In the car it's different, but even then I listen to the Radio rather than play CD/DVD's As experiment had shown, the type of music you listen to affects the way you drive. Is it sensible to have some raw a$$ed rocker screaming down you ear to put you on a knife edge, or some chamber music to send you to sleep ? Both are as dangerous ! To me it's like these folk who want to 'get back to nature' so they hire a Winnebego with all mod cons and then moan about spiders, snakes and birds crapping all over their windscreens. Ah, I always wanted to be a grumpy old man, I was just waiting for age to catch up !
If you do it today you MIGHT regret it. If you CAN'T do it tomorrow you WILL regret it.

Very good impression of Victor Meldew there. A1 for effort.
I like to have the music in my helmet just loud enough so that i can hear it but not to the point that it drowns out the sound of the traffic. Mostly i like it to be in the back ground.
However, in the car. Well, my car stereo goes to 11.

I chose the songs that made me want to ride, I never listen to anything but the highway when I'm riding.
