While I like my drinks, I just do not ride a cycle if I have had a drink. I guess I am not much of a real motorcycle rider.
Drinking doesn’t make you a real motorcycle rider. It can make you an ex motorcycle rider though. I spent my 30th birthday at Strong Memorial hospital, in Rochester. My brother was in critical condition in the Intensive Care unit. I got to visit for 10 minutes every hour. He spent 7 days in ICU, and then 52 more days in the hospital. He was drunk, missed a curve or highsided (doesn’t remember) and hit a tree. If it weren’t for his helmet, he would have been dead right there. As it was, he broke a lot of the bones on the right side of his body, as well as a fractured skull.
After he got back in fairly good shape, he rode a couple of times, but gave it up. I've offered to let him ride mine, but he just doesn’t want to ride anymore. He's happy to wrench, or anything else, but he wont ride. Myself, I definitely like to drink. No doubt about that. I am sipping on nice single malt right now. But if I am riding, I won’t touch a drop. It’s already hard enough to watch out for all the other idiots out there who don’t see us. I don’t want to make the odds any worse.
