After reading your post and Ben's, I'm a little confused ..
My bike has a plastic cover on the battery - no terminals are visible though.
The battery is held in place with a chrome / stainless strap with a screw at the top.
Triumph do a chrome cover which just replaces the plastic one but generally looks a bit crappy.
Brent does a good cover which completely covers the battery and looks a bit good
