You'd be hard pressed to find a single modern recording that didn't learn from Rubber Soul and Revolver. Just as Les Paul revolutionized recording with multiple tracks, George Martin and The Beatles pretty much defined the art of overdubbing and mastering. Hard to overate that. As far as pop "crap"...there's never been another act with 5 singles in the top ten, ever. That, my friend, is pop history.
