The Beatles are WAY overrated. Essentially the n'sync of there time with some good marketing. There early stuff was pretty much pop crap. Fortunately they all grew out of that and did put together some good music. As musical talent goes good but not great IMHO. Versatility does not necessarily mean good. Like I said, they did go on to put some good music together, unfortunately that part of their careers didn't last long enough.
Without a doubt my favorite Brit band is The Who
Lots of other music out there, almost too many to name. Thank goodness all those little isles over there generated a great group of musically talented people. Next week I am going to see the Wolfe Tones at Gaelic park here in Chi'town. I know, Irish, but I was adressing all those islands over there.
Best album - Quadrophenia. Unfortunately I seemed to identify more with the main mod character there but have always been into the motorcycle side of things. Different culture different time I guess.
