Spanner in the works time!! Quote:
.... and head to Williams AZ, where we'll all meet up with Funkletrumpet and his girfriend ....
If Williams is only in the mix so you can meet up with us (BTW, the gf is Wenster), I should tell you we plan on driving down from Vegas early Friday am to get to the Cottonwood area. The plan is to get a bike from Sedona on that afternoon (give me a couple of hours on it before a days ride!).
At least Cottonwood is sorta central for getting the bike and for getting to Prescott.
What I'm saying is, organise the route for the best ride, not the meet with the funny talking foreigners!!

In that case FT, if you're going to be in the Verde Valley/Cottonwood area already that saturday morning, and also considering what Becky said about a possible backup of vehicles into the Grand Canyon entrance from Williams on AZ-64, then maybe going the counter-clockwise(that's "anti-clockwise" to you "funny talking foreigners" over there, of course ) route, headed toward Jerome first instead of Williams would be best. This way both objectives of a hookup with your party, and the lessening chances of a backup into the National Park could possibly be met. (sounds like the old "win-win" to me, kid!)

Well FT, according to Becky, there's a very good chance that there would be a long line of cars waiting to get into the park at that particular entrance from Williams, and so this new plan of arriving to the GC from the other direction via Flagstaff sounds like a good idea to me.
BTW, just wonderin'...Do ya have any idea at this time where you two might stay that friday night so we can hook up with ya that saturday morning? Cottonwood or Sedona, maybe?
(I'm guessin' somewhere in Cottonwood would be a mite cheaper for ya than Sedona would be, dude)

I wasn't thinking of that kind of 'being backed-up'!!
Cottonwood cheaper than Sedona? You implyin' I'm cheap??
Yeah, Cottonwood was the plan - central (ish) to Sedona (getting the bike) and Prescott (to get back from). As for where, nothing planned yet, I thought we could turn up and see what was on offer there.
Depending on the time we get sorted, we could always sashay into Prescott Friday for a meet and greet. Should be good as I've never sashayed in public before!!

Well in that case, we'd be happy to have ya "sashay" into this here little "cotillion" friday night, alright! Sounds like a good plan to me! Oh and BTW...you're right! Considering you own those big american V8-powered cars over there on that island where gas...err...PETROL isn't exactly "cheap", I should have known money means absolutely nothin' at all to ya, huh dude?! Hi Guys, just come across this thread, Ray told me you were in the States around that time Funkletrumpet. We fly into Vegas on the 18th. May for two weeks. How bad timing is that. If i'd of been a bit quicker, or smarter, I could have come a few days earlier and joined in. A few more "funny accents" for you to deal with. Never mind, have a great time and if your in Vegas on the 19th. I'll buy you a beer. Cheers Chris
All the best

Leave 21st. We'll have to arrange swapping numbers.

We actually arrive in Vegas afternoon of the 18th. Dont know where we're staying yet. My mobile out there will be 07887 890454. Hopefully get to meet you out there and have a beer. Will be going to the Dent meet the weekend before so I can let you know what bad behaviour went on. Cheers Chris

Don't forget, you'll have to do the 00 44 7887 .... thing though. I'm pretty sure you need to do that because you're calling a UK mobile. I don't think I've needed to call a UK mobile while I was abroad! Your 'phone will pick up a US service provider and call the UK to go back to the US .... I think Whatever, I've PMd you my number anyway.

Yea, rub it in Becky, I STILL haven't gotten a ride in. Now that I can get out of the driveway, and we've had some decent weather (rarely), the seat is off the bike getting redone, so I still can't get out. It should be back this week though. Mike

As tough as I can muster...without direct alteration from my wife (sounds pretty wimpy huh?) I am going! I saved up my money, have the time on the books, bring my daugghter so we can see the Grand Canyon and Lord willing, my wife if she can handle the ride, I took extra days to take easy driving days to make it down...workin it baby!

Woo Hoo Eddy!!!! Thats great!
Just so you know the Grand Canyon ride day will be long - about 300 miles in all. It should literally take us all day to do it and enjoy the ride and scenery and not rush. I hope to have a special tour set up at the Canyon, and I need to check on that; but if not, I know some of the good spots to go (to be away from the biggest crowds). It'll be fun. Glad its now 'on the books' so to speak! See you in a couple months! Becky

Too bad you can't make it Soren. It's a good weekend. I'm taking Linda up to the Renaissance Fair tomorrow, which will build up some more miles under her riding legs. She's a bit worried that the Grand Canyon ride will be just too far for her to cope, what with her back. I don't know if any kind of menu planning has been done by Dwight and Judy, but this year I was planning on grilling up some shish kebab one night for dinner. It's cubes of top sirloin with mushrooms, hatch chiles, potatoes, onion, tomatoes, and brushed with a peanut butter/soy/thai chili paste sauce. Linda's bringing the car again this year so I'll have the motorcycle jack and my tools with me, plus the ice chest.

Really sorry to hear this, Soren. Ya know, I was especially lookin' forward to finally meetin' the ol' mossback from the northwest at this year's shindig. Do you think your brother Nathan might still be up for a run over from San Diego to Prescott? (that might ease this pain o' mine a bit about this sad news)

One of these days Dwight we'll actually meet face to face. I just dont think there is anyway (short of winning the lottery) that I'll be able to make it. I talked to Nate the other day, he may take that time to come up here to Oregon (havent actually seen him in a couple years).

Hey Dwight!
Are you doing shirts again this year???? Can I place an order for a Lg long sleeve if possible??!?
What else do you need/want me to do in prep? I'm going to try to make a quick trip down in mid-April and bring and leave some beer (good stuff!) and water at the house.
Let me know. Becky

Yeah Becky. The T-shirts are going to be printed within the next week or so. I'll mostly have long-sleeve shirts again this year, and this time I'm going to make sure I have enough XXLs and XXXLs for all the Big Ol' Boys showin' up too. (you may have noticed last year's batch ran a little small) And if you have the time to make that run to Prescott in a few weeks to stock up the fridge, I'd surely appreciate it. A big THANK YOU there, and let me know how much the tab came to so I can reimburse you for 'em, of course. (and speakin' o' the "good stuff", see if you can find some of that New Belgium 1554 Enlightened Black Ale...that's stuff is gooooooooood!!!) And I think it might be time to tally up all those "Definites", "Pretty Sures", and the "Possibles" making it to Prescott next month, huh?! (I'll do that later today)

On the upside they say Lake Powell should rise 50' with this spring runoff. Might drag the Rubber Duckie over there this year. Mike
