Never thought about it that way. Maybe we need to invent an IronDwight award for putting up with him more than two days.

Sheesh! His wife would qualify for sainthood.

Yep! You answered your own question right THERE, Ron!

Judie won THAT award YEARS AGO!

(and unfortunately for her, in perpetuity)

Oh! And speaking of the american southwest, wives and motorcycles....

Judie and I were watching "Jeopardy" last night when a new Viagra commercial appeared on our TV, and it shows this guy riding up to his wife on his brand new motorcycle, and they take off on it. And THEN it shows 'em riding around what could only be the red rock cliffs of Sedona Arizona.

Anybody else seen this new commercial yet?

Well anyway, and so I turned to Judie and said, "Hey! That'll be us in a few months, huh?!"

And she replied, "Yeah! That's true! And that commercial ALSO reminds me........."

(nah, just kiddin' about that "also reminds me" part)

Bet Judie likes the Domino's Pizza commercial, where the guy comes out of the bedroom, and says they have 30 minutes 'til the Domino's guy shows up - her response, "And what do we do for the other 28 minutes." I'd like to see the Viagra commercial follow that...

Gotta run, my cell block boss is doing a head count. Let's see, that's 222, plus the original 20, x 365 days, w/ 55 leap days, less 259 days CTS..... hmmm, well, they say the first 200 years are the hardest...

I may have to change my screen name to mediumbill.
Still just a 2XL.

I feel your pain, Becky, But I tried the large blow torch thing, and all you get is a nice layer of water over the ice, and when that freezes it's twice as slick as when you started. Here's a pic I took on the way to Gunnison the other day. I think the sign's a little redundant, don't you?

With another 12 inches plus of snow on Sunday & Monday - its gonna take a flame thrower AND some warm weather for my driveway to clear up.
My neighbor was generous yesterday and came over and used his snow blower and got the top couple layers off.
But I still have several inches of snow and a couple more inches of ice under that!!!!

May - hurry up!!!!

Becky

Still in the planning stages for my summer runs and I am considering your sw raid..my doubts include the weather..I would travel south east on I-90,I-84 thru oregon and idaho,I-15 south thru utah and then 89 south to Arizona.Beckys posting about the snow and record snowfall here in Washington raises questions about clear rodes in early may.Are there any reliable rode predictors here on this site.or perhaps wanna-be transportation planners??Sorens route south on I-5 then east on I-40 may be safer planned trip??Any questions and/or suggestions??

It's either ride there or don't go. I figure we could meet up in Bakersfield or Barstow.

Soren

Sounds good to me.

I'm thinking of playing safe and planing on three days to get there and three back. It's only about 1300 miles for me. Maybe I'll try two to get there and four to get back.

Soren

I'll meet you in Barstow.

Since this would be my first long distance trip, I'm thinking that I should probably plan on two days to get there and the same for the way back...just to be safe.

If you have time you could meet me (and perhaps Freedom) in Missoula and head south...

Sounds like a great event. I'll be there in two weeks, is that too soon? I'll be in Las Vegas on the 16th of this month then on to AZ across rt 66. Naturally a stop at the grand canyon and a day or two in the Sedona / Prescott area. Unfortunately it will be in a rental car.I have a nephew I'll be visiting in Anthem. Are the Triumph dealerships in Vegas and Phoenix worth a quick stop in?

I stopped by a Triumph dealer in Phoenix while visiting the US in '05 - unfortunately I forget the name but they hadn't got a clue!!

Mostly Jap bikes and ATVs.

He did offer to get a brand new America on the road in ".. a couple of hours .." which I thought was good of him.

This is taking place in mid-May, Armand. If you're going to be coming through the area within the next couple of weeks then unfortunately it will be too soon to join in the rally.

But, I may be in Prescott about that time, and so maybe you can stop by the house while you're in AZ, and I'll buy ya a brew on Whiskey Row in Prescott. It's only about an hour away from Anthem to Prescott, ya know...north up the mountain on I-17 and then over to AZ Hwy-69 west.

Regarding the Triumph dealers in PHX, I don't know, as I haven't stopped by any of them down there yet.

(BTW...I've been trying to get the Prescott Valley Victory dealer to take on Triumph and be the lone dealership in northern AZ for years now, but he doesn't seem too interested in that for some strange reason)

I'll let ya know by next week if I'll be in Prescott for sure at the same time you're going to be in AZ.

Cheers!

Friar John...Are you doing this on a three day trip?Where are you planning your first nite stop as perhaps I could meet there(south of Pocatello??)For me to meet in Missoula adds 200+ to my trip.I am retired and could leave whenever to connect and ride.I usually limit myself to 400+-per day.Still searching for alternatives and ruled out trailering as expensive and no "romance of the journey"!!!Are you motel or tenting???

Well, if Freedom goes and you don't, we might truck the bikes down over two days.

If Freedom doesn't go, or if he does but we decide to ride, I figure it will take 3 days each way, and yes, our first stop would probably be Pocatello. The map looks like this: Map with overnight stops. (I'm having trouble getting this map to display in Internet Explorer, but it looks fine in Firefox.)

If Freedom doesn't go the map will be the same except substitute Missoula for Helena.

I don't plan on spending much time in Vegas. I have a cousin there that I should probably stop and see briefly. Everyone else I'd see in Vegas should be in Prescott anyway.

The Vegas dealer is OK. Might be worth a look for you.
They also have Moto Guzzi, Ducati, Aprilia, Benelli, and some silly choppers.

Hey, I can pipe up!!
Plans are still up in the air at the moment but thinking aloud ... we might leave Vegas Friday am (probably silly o'clock)... heading in the general direction of Sedona (around 250 miles).
Might stay there Friday night as there is a H-D rental place so I could leave the car at the motel while we have a bike for a couple of days.
Ride to the Grand Canyon Saturday, chew the fat laughing at each others accents on Saturday night and head back to Vegas on Sunday.
Then I plan on gaining access to Area 51 get as many pics as possible ... then write whenever I'm allowed to my family from a secure prison somewhere - assuming of course, the helicopter gunships don't get me first!!

(there's nothin' like a carpetbagging Yankee who's moved south of the Mason-Dixon, is there folks?!)

Sorry Armand..err, Bud, but I wasn't sure about your intent there, so I figured I'd just(as "Old Ski-Nose" himself used to say) "make this perfectly clear" about when the rally was.(and no, I wasn't talkin' about Bob Hope there, of course)

But as I said earlier, I may be at "SWTF HDQ" the same time you're in Anthem, so maybe we could have a brew on Whiskey Row there in Prescott, if you're of a mind to!

I would like to be in Prescott by Thursday night. If I'm going to see my cousin in Vegas I suppose that would have to be Wednesday night.

If I'm on my own, which I suspect I am, I'll do Vegas in two days.

Hey Becky, Dwight seems like a reasonably bright fellow, don't you think he should have figured this out LAST year?

But Dwight - they will fit right in with the rest of us!!!! Feisty! I won't be hung over till Sunday!

Becky

Hey Becky, Dwight seems like a reasonably bright fellow, don't you think he should have figured this out LAST year?

Yeah! You're right Mike! And I DID!

BUT, being the sort of chap who always tends to look for "the good" in people, I just decided to give all you folks the benefit of the doubt!

I mean...I'm SURE you ALSO picked up on THAT facet of my personality last year TOO, didn't ya Mike???!!!

(yep...that's ME alright..."Mister Accentuate The Positive"!!!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Hey Dwight,
We should be touring the Sedona / Prescott area on the 19th or 20th next week. If you're in the area maybe I can give you a call and we'll have a cold one on that Whiskey Row I'm hearing a lot about.

Bud
