Okay! Here it is folks....

For those brave souls who have a hankerin' to catch the beautiful vistas of mountainous northern Arizona, here's the plan for the second annual SOUTHWEST TRIUMPH FEST headquartered in the historic town of Prescott.

As I mentioned in Mike's "Dwight:HELP" thread in this forum, this rally will officially start on Friday, May16th, 2008 and end Sunday, May 18th. However, anyone wishing to arrive a day earlier and stay a day later than those dates is surely welcomed to do that.

My house there, for those those who will be in attendance for the first time this year, will once again be open and available for those who may wish to save a few bucks and just crash for a few night's sleep(but you'll need your own bedroll). For those others who may wish separate lodgings, there are many hotels and motels located within just a few miles of my home, which if you either Google Prescott AZ Hotels, or send me a PM regarding this, I could give you some suggestions about.

Friday will consist of a medium length ride of about 80 miles around the Prescott area, leaving my home at around 10am.

Saturday will be the "Big One": A ride to the south rim of the mighty Grand Canyon, leaving at 7am and taking about 2 1/2 hours to arrive to that Wonder Of The World. At this time I'm estimating that we'll spend about 4 hours there, and then return via a different route and be back to base by nightfall.

Sunday will consist of the shortest ride of the weekend(about 40 miles) leaving at 8am, so those who may need to leave that day for their return home will still be able to enjoy one final day of riding with their fellow attendees.

And so...as I mentioned in last year's thread...Are ya "crazy enough" to venture out this way and meet some of these terrific folks who you've communicated with all this time around here via this computer thing, or not?

(ya know...sometimes people are just a little different, and surprising, a whole lot nicer in person than they appear to be over THIS THING you're lookin' at right now)

Becky, Thanks! If my previous two "work-horses" from last year, The Moshers, can't make it this year(though I'm sure hopein' they CAN), then that sure sounds like an open invitation to use YOU as the proverbial "rented mule" THIS year alright...and I'll sure appreciate it TOO!!!

WaaHoo to that Becky! It can get to be a bit "lonely" out there with only a bunch of guys to ride with. Of course it depends on who the guys are.

AmyLee, just wonderin'....Do ya think you and Bob are going use my driveway to park your motorhome(which you're still welcomed to do, BTW), or are you guys gonna reserve a space at some RV park nearby the house?

Dwight - More than glad to help out however I can as I may be asking to use the hacienda one weekend prior to then for a girls trip..... well trip to Whiskey Row anyway!
Also, I'll try to do a least a partial pre-ride of the Canyon trip to get an idea of times and stops etc. That ought to be a fun day!!

And Paul - you said you were coming last year..........

AmyLee - it does get lonely with just guys.....can't believe I just said that!!!
Course if SalMaglie and his wife make it - she rides with him and is a great chick!!!

Dwight, We haven't made any other arrangements yet, but as long as we can tap your electricity, we would love to be able to stake out the driveway. The Toy hauler is 19' and the pickup is 19'. Bob wants to know if your planning group meals, potluck type, or bbq type, or will it be fend for yourself? That way we know what to bring for meal plans. No hurry for answer, just curious.

Becky, I know what you mean, of course I did say that with tongue in cheek. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone.

No problem with the electricity there Amy. And the driveway should be able to handle both pickup and toy hauler, I'm pretty sure. I'll be headed that way in a couple of weeks and I'll measure it to make sure of that.

Regarding the meals: Last year Derek(SalMaglie) and his wife Linda and I went shopping at Costco the day before everybody started showing up, and we bought hot dogs, burgers, and other nosh for the weekend, which everybody kicked in and paid for near the end rally. My wife Judie didn't attend last year because she had to work in L.A., but a few weeks before the rally she and I were there and she cooked a big bunch of lasagna and froze it, so we had that one night also, even though some dummy of a host forgot to set it in the fridge to defrost before we all went out for the day's ride, and so....well, I'm sure somebody who was there last year will fill you end on the rest of THAT story!

(BTW...Judie WILL most likely be able to make it THIS year!)

All-RIGHT!!! Look all you people out there! Eddy of Fasteddy Sports, one of our favorite sons(and favorite Triumph aftermarket parts vendors around here) is coming!!!

And so for all you people sittin' on the fence around here wonderin' if they dare chance a close encounter with that dunderheaded Californian carpetbagging it there in Arizona, NOW have NO REASON not to attend this thing!!!

(look at it this way...sure, you'll have me to put up with, but then again to balance out the scales you'll have EDDY!!!!)

AmyLee - I know you were tounge in cheek - so was I!! (and I'm not bringin' any beer swilling non-riding buddy this year!!! (ask the guys) I was only 1 of 2 girls last year, and the only one on her own bike. Don't know if 'SalMaglie' and his wife are going to make it this year (bummer)....but at least Dwight's Better Half will be there. YEA JUDIE!!!

I think meals will be a little up in the air until Dwight has a rough headcount. I'm coming in Thurs and can help with shopping and prep....and may even be able to drop off stuff early (if Dwight-man gives me permission for house use the month before!!!)

Hey Eddie -
Glad you are planning on makin' it!!!! What ya gonna ride while in AZ? Can't miss the Canyon Trip - I have some special treats planned (connections are a great thing!!)
Oh, and by the way, The shocks are great! Definitely put me on the path for carving the curvies in May!!!!

I do have the combo for the keys. I'll let you know for sure what weekend the girls and I are coming down. I'll probably stock some beer and water, and if you can think of anything else!
Have fun up in BC!

Hey Bro, If you're going I'm going. Let me know.

Also, if time off your dayjob for the long ride from Portland an issue. I wonder what it would cost to ship your bike and you could fly to San Diego and we could ride to AZ together.

Just a thought.

Hey Neight!
You could just come!!! You're not that far way....

And Soren - trailering your bike down to SD might be cheaper than shipping and plane ticket, that is if you arent' riding it the whole way!!!

And SD is a looong days ride to Prescott, mostly slab - having done it a couple times.

The bike would be great but the final details are to be decided - see my other thread ... I might be tempted with a Mustang convertible!

It's about 1000 miles less than my little California jaunt last September. But it might be worth the ribbing from all you jokers to convince Freedom to throw both our bikes in the back of his truck. Montana weather is so unpredictable in May...

Well, I figured the more I get this bunch out on the road, the less chance there'd be of havin' to clean up second-hand used beer around the toilets...err...water closets of my house afterwards, dude...err...mate!!!

I'm sure you've seen that old movie, "The Gang That Couldn't Shot Straight", haven't you???

Why do ya think I want as many women around that weekend as possible, dude??? MUCH less chance of that happening TOO!!!
