A couple of things spring to mind. In the UK there are laws governing the distance between lights so in the event of an accident the insurance will refuse to pay out if the bike doesn't comply. They need to be told if you do the mod. Also any DOT check will discover it and you'll get a 21 day fix it & inspection notice. I was going to say any cop would also pull you up but most of them don't know the law anyway...
Secondly, as they are so close together wouldn't it confuse the already myopic drivers as they would have difficulty seeing which side was flashing.
They look nice, but I would be inclined to put them on the end of a longer bar.
