.....when you throw it away and make your own! I kept the sstorage box that it came with but everything else was tossed. When I first installed it the left side panel cracked beyond use and the right side fit so loose that eventually it just fell off while on the road. So, I just got new panels and threw away BC's bracketry and made my own. It only took an evening of welding and bending and 1.5 hours at 400 degrees in my wifes oven (sorry hon..) and it looks good (not all that different from BC's design) and it works way better. just thought I post this pic to show it is easy to make your own "freak" and remount your stock panels. However, now that I have been researching battery box removal, I may soon tear it down and try something new!

that's the point. I wanted the side covers and graters mounted back on the bike without interfering with the K&N's. Nothing much to see under the covers except for 2 filters, a bunch of 1" wide brackets supporting the covers and the BC storage box.

OK, understand what ya saying.. now on another note, Did you use the air filters that came with the BC kit? I am going to do something similar, it would be well handy for me if you could give me the K&N part number for the filters.
Cheers, TrOjAn

K&N pods that come with the Freak are RC-2890 and RC-2900 one is left and one is right.

I believe Uni makes a pod type filter too. I don't know the prices or part numbers for those though.

I understand ya BOOZEfighter, my father and I are in the proccess of doing our own Jetting and intakes and I was looking at the FREAK, and I don't understand why it's $300. A friend of mine works in a machine shop and I get stuff made for cheap all the time, I just measure it, draft it in CAD, e-mail him the file, pick it up in a week or so. My Father wants to just cut the forward corners off the stock air box to make room for the pods, this way he can keep the filter compartment of the air box for storage, for stuff you don't need at every second stop, so tire tubes, tools, etc. Also this way he can use the stock mounts for the tuperwhare panels, but I'm having issues making it look good and or functional, so I think I might just be doing the same steps you've done. Looks good though.

He could pull the side cover off and cut a door in the side of the air box with hinges and latch for access then wouldn't have to unbolt the seat.

I installed the "Freak", poor fitting, had to chop about 1" from the right side bracket to bring the cover inline with the frame. The left filter hits the cable harness and falls off too. I would like to go to the "old-school" look of just the filters hanging there and no side covers.
