IDIOT SIGHTING:
We had to have the garage door repaired. The Sears repairman told us that one of our problems was that we did not have a 'large' enough motor on the opener. I thought for a minute, and said that we had the largest one Sears made at that time, a 1/2 horsepower. He shook his head and said, 'Lady, you need a 1/4 horsepower.' I responded that 1/2 was larger than 1/4. He said, 'NO, it's not.' Four is larger than two.. We haven't used Sears repair since.

IDIOT SIGHTING
My daughter and I went through the McDonald's take-out window and I gave the clerk a $5 bill. Our total was $4.25, so I also handed her a quarter. She said, 'you gave me too much money.' I said, 'Yes I know, but this way you can just give me a dollar bill back.' She sighed and went to get the manager who asked me to repeat my request. I did so, and he handed me back the quarter, and said ³We¹re sorry but they could not do that kind of thing.' The clerk then proceeded to give me back$1 and 75 cents in change.
Do not confuse the clerks at McD's.

IDIOT SIGHTING:
I live in a semi rural area. We recently had a new neighbor call the local township administrative office to request the removal of the DEER CROSSING sign on our road. The reason: 'Too many deer are being hit by cars out here! I don't think this is a good place for them to be crossing anymore.' From Kingman , KS

IDIOT SIGHTING IN FOOD SERVICE:
My daughter went to a local Taco Bell and ordered a taco. She asked the person behind the counter for 'minimal lettuce.' He said he was sorry, but they only had iceberg lettuce. From Kansas City

IDIOT SIGHTING :
I was at the airport, checking in at the gate when an airport employee asked, 'Has anyone put anything in your baggage without your knowledge?' To which I replied, 'If it was without my knowledge, how would I know?' He smiled knowingly and nodded, 'That's why we ask. Happened in Birmingham , Ala.

IDIOT SIGHTING :
The stoplight on the corner buzzes when it's safe to cross the street. I was crossing with an intellectually challenged coworker of mine. She asked if I knew what the buzzer was for. I explained that it signals blind people when the light is red. Appalled, she responded, 'What on earth are blind people doing driving? She was a probation officer in Wichita , KS

IDIOT SIGHTING:
At a good-bye luncheon for an old and dear coworker. She was leaving the company due to 'downsizing.' Our manager commented cheerfully, 'This is fun. We should do this more often.' Not another word was spoken. We all just looked at each other with that deer-in-the-headlights stare. This was a lunch at Texas Instruments.

IDIOT SIGHTING:
I work with an individual who plugged her power strip back into itself and for the sake of her life, couldn't understand why her system would not turn on. A deputy with the Dallas County Sheriffs office, no less.

IDIOT SIGHTING:
When my husband and I arrived at an automobile dealership to pick up our car, we were told the keys had been locked in it. We went to the service department and found a mechanic working feverishly to unlock the drivers side door. As I watched from the passenger side, I instinctively tried the door handle and discovered that it was unlocked. 'Hey,' I announced to the technician, 'its open!' His reply, 'I know. I already got that side.
This was at the Ford dealership in Canton , Mississippi

Wow, you're McDonald's people are way dumber than ours. Ours will punch 5.25 in and give me a dollar back when the machine tells them to.

Reminds me of when we came back from shopping my daughter was around 6 years old. I started unpacking and passed her the toilet rolls and asked her to unwrap them and put them in the toilet.

A few minutes later I went upstairs she had unwrapped and stuffed literally in the loo, all nice and soggy.

Kids eh

It's funny you say that,Wendy had a similar experience at McD's. She ordered her meal and when she went to pay she owed something like $4.50 and gave the cashier a $5 bill. The cashier gave her back something like 35 cents.(I can't remember the exact numbers any more but the cost and payment were nice round numbers like that) Wendy proceeded to tell her that she gave the wrong change. The cashier argued that no she hadn't because the register told her that was what the change was! After going back and forth and calling the manager Wendy finally got the right change but that floored me that this girl couldn't subtract $4.50 from $5 and get 50 cents!

This happened to me three days ago in Cleveland, OH:
I went in to prepay for gas at a gas station. The gas price happened to be exactly $3.00. I asked for 10 gallons. The clerk got her calculator out, punched away at it for a good two minutes, then said: "That'll be $22.80 please." I just paid, got out and put the 7.6 gallons in the car.

I went to a Wendy's and ordered a double cheeseburger and a drink. I didn't get the combo meal because I didn't want fries. The counter person said that's $5.75. I noticed it was .76 cents more then the combo meal price of $4.99. I asked the counter person if I could have the combo meal price but they could keep the French Fries. He said he couldn't do that without giving me the fries. I said ok, give me the fries and refund my .76 cents. They said no problem. What's wrong with this picture?

A couple of weeks ago, I went out and left my house keys in the house. When I got back, I went to the side door and tried it, it was locked, so I went to the Patio door and tried to open that. That was also locked.

The only thing I could think of was to force the weakest and most easily repaired door lock, (which was the Patio).

Sooo...I went back to the font of the house, opened the garage with my garage key and began searching for a reasonable sized screwdriver. I then remembered I had left the one I had in mind in the Kitchen the day before. So I went through the connecting door into the kitchen and was frantically looking for the screwdriver when it suddenly occurred to me........

If you do it today you MIGHT regret it. If you CAN'T do it tomorrow you WILL regret it.

True.

I stopped at the McD's in Ronan a couple years ago for a coffee refill.

Me. "How much to fill this travel mug?".
Her. "One dollar".
Me "But your listed price has a larger cup for only $0.75"
Her. "Oh"
Me. "OK, I'll order your .75 cup, pour it into my travel mug and throw your's in the trash. Then we'll both be happy".

I rarely, if ever eat the so-called food at McD's, coffee is as far as my courage will allow me.

(However, upon thread review, 75 IS larger than 1, so maybe she was correct all along. My "Bad")

A little off topic:

On those rare ocassions when McDonalds is the only game in town, I may order:

"This, that, & the other & that's all thank you."

I wince in anticipation of the clerk asking me:

"Do you want 'The Meal'?"

F-k! Now how do I answer that?

Yes -- I want the meal. Didn't I just order a meal?

No -- I don't want the meal, I just ordered for a practice swing for next time I roll through.

I end up telling the truth, the whole truth, & nothing but the truth:

"I don't know."

One time, I ordered a hamburger and fries from In N Out. Seems they were out of fries and wouldn't have any for a while, so I just got the burger and went across the street to get some Mcfries. The counter droid asked, "Do you want fires with your fries?"

True story - at a truck stop diner in Rawlins, WY. My friend says to the waitress "what's the soup de jour?" She heads back to the kitchen for a few minutes and then comes back with the answer...

"It's the soup of the day"

Went to a Taco ****** in Denver once, and my wife ordered a burrito. We pull up to the window and my wife asks the lady (of Spanish descent) for some Salsa for her burrito. Salt? comes back the answer. NO, Salsa, you know, for putting on a burrito along with hot sauce? The lady never did pick up on what we meant by Salsa, so we gave up. Isn't Salsa a Spanish thing? Que?

Well, I'm guessin' these "bright people" mentioned here wouldn't "do so well" on that observation test that was posted the other day in Erwin's "Whats your score" thread.

(AND I'm guessin' they weren't all that "observant" during the hours of 9am through 3pm when they sat their behinds in those school desks o' their's EITHER!)

Well, I'VE always thought that that's THEIR problem, Paul.

If they knew any better, they'd know the difference between being "pretentious" and being "supercilious".

(and I SHOULD know....I'm often BOTH...and often DARN PROUD OF IT TOO!!!)

Wasn't it McDonalds that outsourced their drivethrough order stop? I guess they figure that, since Injia was more recently a colony, more people there still speak English.

At our McDonalds, when you pull up to the drive-thru, the manager (who is an older local lady) starts off by welcoming you to the restaurant, and then asks you what you want. Then, after you start giving your order, another voice comes back from one of the staff from Guatamala, Mexico, El Salvador, etc.... and repeats your order (or at least I THINK that's what they're doing, cause some of them don't speak so gooda the Englisha!) Never figured that one out....
